Mapping the Saratai

[member="Matsu Ike"]

Looking at Matsu Ike, the Rendili woman tried to stifle the urge to stretch after sitting in the shuttle so long to get here. She didn't want to be rude after all, but she was certainly stiff and a tad exhausted from the long ride. So putting her own gripes aside, Camellia made sure to head straight for the Astrisian woman in charge of the show since she needed to be brought up to speed on everything. "Hello Matsu, glad to hear you're making progress. You called though, so is there anything in particular you needed me to do? I wasn't quite able to hear all of the details from my aide before departure."

Was he at it again? Absolutely.

Back in the training holosuites? Of course not.

Dancing in random, potentially inappropriate places across the ship? Now, doesn't that sound more like Zak? Whether moonwalking down the corridors or break dancing in the lifts, the boy was wandering through the massive starship with music trickling from out of the HoloBoy Advanced that was sticking out of his pocket. This particular song was a remix between a Dug hip-hop artist and a Lorrdian pop star.

Mapping the Saratai? How about dancing the Saratai!

Director Crescent had arrived on the scene with an army of technicians and droids ready to get to work. Their primary contribution to the project was going to be the installation of Shawyer drives. As these reactionless drives produced no exhaust, the Saratai class's hull could be constructed without the weak points that came from engine ports. With their placement inside the superstructure, the ship could be maneuvered laterally or elevate without having to turn or pitch. Useful for taking up optimal firing positions against enemy capital ships.

Integrating the
Shawyer drives was KSA's primary concern here as subcontractors. However, Crescent had come to approach Ike about utilizing some other systems from KSA. Positron cannons and some software packages to help the ship contended with EWAR platforms and other threats like the Yuuzhan Vong.

There was so much more work going into it and some of the bigger sections and parts of the projects were beefing it up. Matsu looked over the designs as they worked with some of the larger groups. She had found someone with talent in Suravi who was bringing systems that she had not been thinking about before. Letting some of her attention go over it when she spoke to Camellia and observed that the sensors were picking up the padawan Zak dancing and getting into things around the ship. "is he... is he moon walking in the ship? Oh hopefully he won't find the rations of candy they had brought on board for some of the cooking. "Yes I brought shipbuilders from some of the best places i know to overlook sections of this ships construction. The Saratai project has been to make a massive colonization ship that can head out to expand and create a path for seeing the planets and stars. Using also some of the latest in technology over hanger space or weapons to have them be heavily defendable and survive encounters with unknown species or hostile forces. It is also a massive self sustaining ship that can repair itself with droids while and AI pilots it."

Description:
Constructed as a massive exploration ship by Sasori. The Outrigger class is something special, it has the guns to fight in battles and heavy shields but it is not made for that. Having a massive solar energy collector and converter that is designed to charge its power cells. Weapons being automated by the advanced AI that operates the systems to sustain itself and its crew. The hangers are converted to provide more modules and sections to grow food through cloning technology.

The project to build the ship became something larger in the jedi masters opinion, with all of the work going into it they started working on things. THe first stage was the development of the Cartographer Seeder Ship a first flight production factory that could last for the task ahead. THe seeder ships were sent out into the galaxy and beyond the galactic disc to scout and map the locations by deploying buoy's along with the Sasori Cartagrapher probe droids that would be able to create a lattice network.

The duel core Ai's for the project were developed. For the exploration and general map databanks the Quiet Aoi was created. For the need of combat Hellcat AI codenamed the La Rasa by the Ranger's that helped develop it. As a combat AI to take over in case of attack it was built as a dream team. The hard work they had been doing to map the galaxy and information on the limitations they needed to get for the seeder ships themselves. They could work on it to allow the Saratai as the main to have far less limitations.

Additional work on it and they were constructing the harder parts of it. Thanks to Domino's advice for the ship building and floor plans. The ship was able to strip down some of the excess meat but also maximize the potential of the defense and offense potential. Thick multi layer plating for the hull to insure it very rarely will get penetrated and several systems that the seeder ships do not have.

The mission statement of the ship and AI's is to go out and explore mapping and going through many of the systems by itself and without a human crew. Though it is made for human use the large droid crew mainly keeps it running instead to gather as much information as possible while moving out to the furthest reaches of the universe. The bridge designed for a small crew to be able to operate it with the AI.

The power needs and systems of the ship were one ofthe most important parts with some of the more important things relying on some of the bigger things. Reactors within the ship to feed power but along the underside fold out solar panels and collection. With the shielding from Phenex for the Nirvana it is able to get close to the sun and gather heavy amounts of solar energy.

The ship works as a large thing, all of the things it can store energy wise is a nice thing but continuing to operate the systems on the ship is an important thing. With all of the work Sasori did to have the AI's and armaments it was not much of a wonder. Matsu would work to make sure the ship relayed the information to a good home so they could have a chance to create colonies in the expansive regions of the companion galaxies.

Staring at the forefront of Sasori, Camellia groaned internally at the size of the project as she looked up at the ship and the young natulon boy dancing on top of it as Matsu pointed him out. It sounded and looked like the scope of the effort was on par with the Will of the Force, and in retrospect it hadn't been so fun to make when the payoff was hardly even around to see. "From the sounds of it your work is going to be a pain to look through then, I can give it a look over and have some engineers and technicians inspect the reactor and the automated systems if you like? We can always slave the circuitry together so it's more efficient simpler to repair. It looks a tad intimidating for a colonization craft though."

[member="Camellia Swift"] needed to take up dancing.

To start with, it was fun. Much more fun-er than building starships. Unless they were Lego starships. Those were totally fun. And therein lay the payoff.

In any event, Zak had somehow managed to stumble upon a fan room that was likely part of the air recycling or ventilation. It was rather like dancing in a wind tunnel, with his head-tails flapping in the breeze behind his head. Even still, the boy continued to dance and pretended he was dancing on the beach on Arda during one of their tsunami-like storms. All it was missing was the rain...

After their initial meeting with Matsu, Crescent got to work plotting the best placement of the Shawyer drives in order to maximize maneuverability and free up space for mounting more systems. She even considering working with a physical frame, she tested everything with computer models running through simulations. After setting the desired parameters, the computer did most of the work determining the placement, based off of hundreds of scenarios with even more permutations for each one.

Dozens of smaller drives would line the spine of the tapered body that protruded from the
wedge, all the way to the nose. These would serve as the thrusters for making fine adjustments, and aid with making full reversals if need be. The main drives would be housed within the wedge section of the ship. While larger than the vernier thrusters at the middle and front of the ship, there were still much smaller than the original engines they were meant to replace. An intentional choice, for maintenance concerns and reliability. A small drive could easily be swapped out or repaired, versus a few large engines. The simple mechanics of the drive made such a scheme feasible.

[member="Matsu Ike"]

Changes to something as crucial as the drive system required some significant adjustments to wiring throughout the frame. Because the thrusters were meant to be nestled close to the superstructure underneath the hull, engineers could plug the drives straight into the main lines for power and communication, instead of building off secondary lines for exterior systems like gun emplacements. That would give the thrusters some added resiliency against electrical surges as result of EMPS and ion weapons.

The same thing went for the main thrusters in the back, connecting right into the sockets meant for the original engines. Wanting each engine of the array to have a direct connection to the main line, extensions were made, including sets of redundant wiring.

[member="Matsu Ike"]

The main design work for the engine placement was more or less complete. Crescent forwarded the modified schematics to Matsu, including details about mass and space saved with the use of the Shawyer drives. It would give Matsu some more room to play with in working on the other functions of the ship.

Now it was onto an often overlooked element, software. Bad coding could bring the whole system down, especially one like the
Saratai, with so many things running under the hood. Sasori had the benefit of advanced AI to help manage any conflicts, but Crescent had high standards so she wouldn't be satisfied until KSA's programs were properly integrated into the whole system. Adjustments had to be made to account for the changes of the
Shawyer drives as well. Despite the simplicity of their mechanics, managing them was quite different from your standard set of ion engines.

Matsu continued to work with the display, watching the droids as they were installing systems throughout the ship and as needed with the emphasis on the bigger and bulkier sections of the Saratai. These engines from Suravi were showing far more impressive output in the design with the rest of the ship. The store houses for rations and food were being filled as were the living quarters for the different sizes. It would make how many could be on the ship less but it would also allow for self sustainability making food on top of what consumables they brought with them. THe massive ship having a small hanger with pressor tubes to launch fighters instead of them taking off and opening the bay. It took up half the hanger to really have there but two wings of fighters for defense of the colonization and factory ship would help as she wasn't planning on it being without support or some escort. It could feed and repair fleets in the grand scheme of things. "Impressive work and we have been building up the impressive sections of it." The ship itself was ready to be tested a little with detachment from the drydock but they were getting the final touches up and going.
