Manhunt

Some alley in Coruscant, 1900 hours.
The man screamed in shock and pain as he was thrown against the wall forcefully. This woman was apparently not in the mood for any games. Levi looked straight into the low-life's eyes, her face almost completely devoid of emotion. Maybe that was what had him in such a panic. Not the pistol that was aimed at his shoulder, but the coldness she was currently displaying. On the inside, she felt nothing short of fear and hatred, but she knew better than to show that and risk losing her cool. If she killed the man and didn't get any answers from him, she'd be back at ground zero. "Tell me a name", she spoke quietly and calmly. "If you truly value having a working arm, I suggest you tell me what I want to know very soon." To emphasize, she pressed the barrel into his shoulder just enough to make him wince. "I... I swear, I don't know anything. Please!" Levi hesitated a moment. Could she go through with this? She'd put up a strong front, but the truth was, she was still just a girl. She'd barely turned eighteen yesterday. The man must have seen the doubt in her eyes, because he chose that moment of thought to wriggle out of her grasp, knock her down, and scamper off into the darkness. A little dazed, it took her a moment to find her bearings once more and stand up. "Dammit..." She whispered softly to herself. With the way this was going, she'd was heading nowhere at warp speed. She needed help, and she knew it.

Kail Ragnar stood at the mouth of the alley, and turned to watch the wounded man flee into the milling passersby to be lost in the seedy Coruscant night.

He looked back to where he came from having watched the whole thing. Picking at his nails, he watched a for a few more seconds before venturing down the alley himself without much care in the world. Dressed in his combat gear, stocked with his armourweave outer vest and carrying a number of fire-arms, Kail wasn’t for messing around.

He kicked up some water in a shallow puddle as he came to a stop beside the blue-skinned girl.

”He probably would have talked if you’d have shot first.”

He reached out with his hand to offer her a hand up.

”That second where you stopped to think. That’s when you lost him.”

It was yet another boring night in a line of boring nights. In the last few weeks the jobs had seemed to dry up, leaving Toph with nothing to do but drum up her own sources of income, and lets be honest she was doing it for the laughs as well. The room was bathed only the in the blueish light of her computer screens, multiple holocam feeds from cross Coruscant playing on the multiple monitors.

Toph was about to give up for the night and get some sleep. When was the last time she'd slept? However, something on a side monitor caught her sight. She moved the feed to to her larger main monitor and watched as the man slipped from the Chiss' grasp and ran away. This could be worth something. Toph began to run facial software as she tracked the escaping man on another monitor. Several records popped up on a third screen a minute later, including one for another man that had began to talk to the Chiss.

The escapee was just another lowlife without a credit to their name, but the other two she could work with. Meaning they had won the silent bid for her services. Toph noticed one of those customer service kiosks near by. Thankfully she'd already created a backdoor into the network ages ago to utilize their mics while collecting information. She activated a remote connection to the kiosk and Toph could see the screen being replaced with an animated talking melon through her monitor.

"I can find him for you Blu. But its gonna cost ya." Toph's lithe Coruscant accent came through the kiosk for Levi and Kail to hear.

Today was not Jim Pehico's day, For the first time since he's been on the run, his N-1 Starfighter had finally broke down. Now he was forced to leave his ship and his astro droid so he could find some parts, hopefully neither of them are stolen while he's away. Jim was looking at a datapad to see what he needs when suddenly a man runs into him and knocks him down. The man also fell down but quickly got back up and kept running. Jim knew by the look in the man's eyes, that he feared for his life. Jim puts one hand on his blaster as he continues to walk down the street. farther into the alley he looks around for anything odd, and he sees it. A Chiss lady, and a well-armed Mercenary listening to an animated talking melon, is not your average sight in the Coruscant underworld. Jim coms to R2-3Z to lock up the ship and meet him at his coordinates. Jim decided to go introduce himself to the band of misfits that were ahead of him, in the hope of making some quick credits.

"He probably would have talked if you'd have shot first."
Turning around to face the source of the voice, Levi looked the man up and down for a moment, studying him. By all means, he looked prepared for war. What was he doing in Coruscant's lower levels, unless... "Let me guess. You're a hired gun, and if the price is right, you'll help me out. Is that it?" She stared at him with her red, calculating eyes. "Unfortunately for you, I don't have too much to spare. However, the-" She was cut off mid sentence as a nearby terminal lit up. It came in a little garbled for a few seconds until, strangely enough, a holo of an animated watermelon took form. Definitely the weirdest thing Levi had seen all day. "I can find him for you Blue. But it's gonna cost ya.", the voice behind the speaker said. It was a strange accent, but she'd heard variants of it before, even if she couldn't place where. Turning toward the direction of the kiosk, the chiss crossed her arms. "As I was just telling buddy over here, I'm not exactly the richest gal out here. But, I guarantee you the man i'm after does." Looking at each party in turn now, she mad a wager. "So, how about it you two? Ya'll help me find my man, and whatever he's got on him, you can split amongst yourselves. Deal?"

Jim Pehico was walking towards the group when the blue girl replied to the melon "As I was just telling buddy over here, I'm not exactly the richest gal out here." She just lost Jim's interest and just as he was turning around. she finished her thought "But, I guarantee you the man i'm after does." She had just regained Jim's interest now what does a guy like Jim bring to the table when it comes to two killers and a splicer. They need a pilot. The chiss had just finished talking about a deal when Jim steps in;

"Don't mean to eaves drop, but it seems to me you're missing a pilot. I mean you might have the meanest sonuva gun in the galaxy and a talking melon, but unless this guy is a block away, you're going to be needing me."

The party stares at him and Jim gives them his signature quirky smirk. Hopefully, that speech landed him the gig.

Nathaniel was walking along a corusant underbelly road. Not much wrong there, as the police rarley traveled this far down, but he just so happened to hear another conversation piqued his interest. Someone was hunting someone else down. He turned the corner, standing just behind [member="Jim Pehico"] and began listening in. He finally spoke up after the outlaw Infor the of him finally shut up. I'll go. It doesn't matter that you find him if you don't have the guts to kill him yourself.

It was a long night for Locke, longer than he would have liked. The once steady flow of people to his clinic had dried up to a slow trickle. People must be being more careful than usual. He did little more than prescribe medication lately, let alone get a patient on the surgery table. Maybe it was time for a change of pace.

He let out a deep sigh and strode from his desk to pull down the shutters from the door. He got two steps before a man hurried through his doorway, eyes darting back and forth. He was clutching his shoulder and looking suspiciously at Locke. "Can I help you?", Locke asked firmly. The man seemed to hesitate for a moment. He glanced back outside the door and then around the room, like he was weighing up his options. "Yeah, I've...broken my collarbone I think. Can you take me out back for a quick check?". Locke looked carefully at the way the man was standing, how he was holding his shoulder. It was all wrong, if his collarbone was broken he'd be pushing on it and would be in massive amounts of pain. Locke knew what pain looked like, and this man was not in pain.

Locke didn't trust him one bit. "Look, it's getting late and I'm just about to close. If it were an emergency, sure I'd help, but as it is you'll have to make your way to another clinic". That didn't seem like the answer the man wanted and an awkward silence spread out between them. The man spoke up: "Look it won't take long, and I'll pay you for your discretion". Locke thought about it for a moment. True, he needed funds and badly but he didn't need a blaster bolt in the back from whoever was clearly chasing the man. "I'm sorry, but I just can't hel~" Locke was interrupted by the man smashing his fist into Locke's jaw. Locke went down hard and sprawled against the wall. The man fled down the hallways to the back of the clinc.

Locke unleashed another deep sigh. He considered his options. He glanced up at the security camera in the corner of the ceiling and shook his head. The authorities were out of the question. They'd come around, start asking questions and they'd soon realise the clinic wasn't legitimate. He'd long ago disabled the building alarm anyway, so no one was coming to his rescue. He crawled along the floor with his gloved hands until he reached the desk. Reaching under, he popped a secret cabinet and pulled out a small blaster pistol. He tucked it into his voluminous coat.

The man had locked the autodoor behind him and Locke had difficulty getting through. He cursed at it with every swear he knew; kicked and battered it, but the door remained shut. Locke settled back into his seat with a heavy thump. Looks like he was waiting this one out.
