DESCRIPTION
Banned in many jurisdictions, a ballistic knife has a short, powerful spring in its handle. The spring launches the blade and tubular tang out as a projectile. In typical Mandalorian fashion, the Mandalorians looked at the ballistic knife and asked two questions:
  • Can I bolt it to my armor?
  • Can I make it out of beskar?
In both cases, the answer turned out to be yes.

A springknife is a beskar ballistic knife compatible with a wide variety of armor attachment points. Generally, the user fits the springknife to a forearm bracer, yielding the following combat options:
  • Fight with the blade extended and attached to the bracer
  • Fight with the blade retracted, and extend it at a critical moment, not unlike the Jedi Trakata technique
  • Launch the blade as a single-use projectile
  • Remove the entire springknife from the bracer and use it as a normal ballistic knife
  • Use an already-launched blade/tang as a normal knife
