When life gives you Mandos, make Mando'ade
Intent: A sensor for sniffing out people who are, by one means or another, concealing their Force-sensitivity.
Development Thread: None
Manufacturer: Rel Connory and associates
Model: Bloodtrace Scanpack
Affiliation: Selected Mandalorians
Modularity: No. It is a module suitable for inclusion in suits of Mandalorian armour, generally in the bracer or helmet.
Production: Limited
Material: Mandalorian steel, medical-grade electronics
Strengths:

  • High-intensity medical scanner provides midichlorian count information on scan subjects.

  • Secret: Connory and those he trusts with the technology are, thus far, the only ones who know it exists. They make every effort to avoid the technology being revealed.
Weaknesses:

  • Very short range: only functions within 5 metres for a person or large biological sample, and requires actual contact to scan a small biological sample.

  • Cannot take a reading through personal shields.

  • An untrained Force-sensitive can read as high as a Sith Lord; the sensor measures midichlorian count (which is linked to Force potential), not developed Force power.
Description: In days gone by, the standard method of testing one’s Force potential was a very quick blood test to analyze midichlorian count. This test required only small handheld sensors and standard high-end medical analysis gear. The Bloodtrace is an ultra-short-range medical scanner stripped down for a single purpose: counting a single element in the cells of a living being. As a baseline, your average non-Force-sensitive human has somewhere around twenty-five hundred midichlorians per cell. Higher counts indicate the potential for Force-sensitivity.

Due to his own extensive history of infiltration, the inventor Rel Connory created the Bloodtrace to root out potential Sith and Jedi operatives inside the Mandalorian ranks.

There are two general methods of use:

  • Actively scan a single individual, or a large sample such as a dismembered limb. The scan takes several seconds. If the individual has a high midichlorian count, and either did not disclose this or actively concealed it, take appropriate action.

  • Place a small biological sample (hair, blood, etc.) inside the Bloodtrace via an armored hatch the size of a coin. The scan is nearly instantaneous. If the individual has a high midichlorian count, and either did not disclose this or actively concealed it, take appropriate action.

Primary Source: Not influenced by any Chaos submissions. This is an extrapolation of standard midichlorian scanning technology as depicted in The Phantom Menace, as well as the Dark Eye probe droid whose capabilities are discussed here.
