Magick Primer

Magick
Some believe Magick is just another term for the Force. This belief has natural arisen where it is common where there is the Force there is magick, and where there is magick there is the Force. Nevertheless, they are fundamentally different ways of tapping into the inherent power that radiates not only from the animate, but also the inanimate matter of the galaxy. By harnessing this pwoer, by understanding it a magick user can manifest ghastly and captivating visages alike; they can bolster themselves and undermine their enemies; learn ancient secrets from spirits; and travel between worlds. With enough study there is no limit to what one might accomplish... if one does not fall prey to the sateless hunger of unspeakable terrors, or to the traps of power that can drive one mad.

Magick Practitioner | Weaver
Dathomir has historically been led by Nightsister, a female-led, matriarchial society that has maintained its deep traditions and identity. However, in the last few decades, male magick users have appeared. Their acceptance can vary by Clan, but their existence is unavoidable. One able to commune with the spirits, with nature, and understand the fundament of Creation is a Weaver of magick.

Also known as a Witch, Warlock, and other locale-specific terms.

The Material Plane
What most perceive every day is the Material Plane. It is a level of existence made of solid matter with clearly defined physical Laws.

The Netherworld
Another layer of existence where the Dead and Spirits reside. It is a dynamic, shifting realm that is not forced to obey any physical Law. A path walked once before in the Nether may lead to somewhere entirely new the next time. Finding your way requires a certain command of magick or communion with the spiritual.

Circle Magick
A lone Weaver is strong. A Circle of Weavers is stronger. By channeling their energy through a single person -- the Master Weaver -- a group of magick users can conjure power greater than they could alone enabling the creation of miraculous or wonderous creations, or the application of some of the most horrific curses and abominations ever conceived. One should take care who they place their trust in entering a Circle, however; a skilled Master Weaver can bind a Circle to their will.

Ritual Magick
Rather than conjuring power in the heat of the moment or from a short incantation, a Weaver can weave magick into an intricate tapestry of power. Some Ritual can empower a caster with the same or more power as some Circles; and a Rtiaul performed by a Circle can change a world. Rituals require considerable time, energy, and focus. They are often written down on scrolls or in books to be referenced later due to their complexity. Few Ritual powers can stumbled upon by happenstance.

Spirit Ichor | Magickal Ichor
A manifestation of magickal energy often in the form of green smoke or flame conjured by a Weaver. It can be used to create or manipulate physical objects, influence the environment, assail opponents, and much more. At times conjuring Ichor can be used to warn others they approach heedless of the danger, or to ready one's self for a conjuring.

Spirit
Specter. Haunt. Ghost. Abomination. Nether Beast. There are many terms, but all stem from the idea of an entity that comes from outside of the Material Plane -- practically exclusively for those from the Netherworld. Many such manifestations have no physical form, or lack a tangile form and exist more as an optical or mental illusion. There are those that can take on a physical form and influence the Material world around them freely -- sometimes to great and terrifying effect.
