Maestus was born again, as a Sith, on Mustafar, under the intense eye of her master

For a long time now, she has learned the ways of the lightsdaber. While she is proficient with them in various forms, the saber has never felt like an extension of herself, truly. During training one day, the thought began to form in her mind. She should create her own weapon. Something that was an extension of herself and would fit fluidly with her personality and style. After spending time in the library on Gehinnom, she found references to lightwhips. She knew she had found her weapon.
She studied the components needed, devouring any and all recordings on lightwhips in the Holy City's extensive repository. A little trial and error (She's a terrible artist) and she had a basic working design. Now she needed the crystal to power it, and she knew what she simply needed above any other. A lava crystal from Mustafar. During a break in battles, she went back to Mustafar. Up the mountain

Seizing the crystal, she returned to Gehinnom and its unholy forge. She spent days attuning the crystal to her, to her Force signature. When she finally completed her task, she and the crystal were one. It was a simple matter to assemble the lightwhip after the crystal was attuned and imbued. A few feeble attempts and putting wrong parts in wrong places, and she completed her lightwhip.
