The Maelstrom is the walker you want at the head of your invasion. Why? It's the most monstrously-armed walker ever conceived, and learned from the myriad mistakes of the AT-AT. The resources required for it are insane, but the pay-off is well worth it in the end. This walker comes equipped standard with a heavy-duty shield generator to shrug off the blasts that many walkers simply could not withstand. It is, however, slow. A quarter slower than the AT-AT, in fact. So too does the walker have a lot more space dedicated to powering it in the rear quarter, for obvious reasons. Slightly less susceptible to air attack than its skinnier cousin, the Maelstrom is designed to destroy. Your invasion may be slightly slower, but the ability to take heavy artillery with you, deploy infantry with it, and use it to dominate a battlefield on all angles with a good vantage point by engaging multiple tanks simultaneously is something that just cannot be overlooked.

Much as the AT-AT, troops deploy from rail hatches via fast-rope, but the drop is considerably less and with more anti-infantry covering fire while doing so. The multiple legs with wider width provide much-needed firing stability, but gives the Maelstrom a wide, crab-like appearance. With enough armament to counter infantry and vehicles - and fortified locations - the Maelstrom truly is a walker designed to stand at the top and conquer all in its path.
