Intent: To come up with a starfighter and capship-mounted weapon capable of knocking ships around, rather than doing any real damage.

Description: The Mace was designed by Subach-Innes as an alternative to standard laser cannons on a fighter. For ammunition, the weapon uses very thin turadium sabots, smaller in diameter than a strand of wire. When the weapon is fired, the sabot is encapsulated by what is very similar to shield plasma and launched at an enemy fighter. Upon impact, the plasma is absorbed by the enemy shield, doing minor damage, while the sabot itself impacts the hull of the enemy fighter, physically knocking against it. With enough fire, an enemy ship can be knocked around and forced off its original course, giving a fighter a perfect chance to destroy it with lasers or a well-placed missile. With sustained fire of one to two minutes, an enemy fighter could be destroyed, but the per-second and per-shot damage rates of each individual projectile are so low that it's really only useful as a tactical weapon. Due to this lack of damage, even civilians can legally mount Maces on their ships.

I like this concept, however, not in it's current form.

I look at dust as one of the number one enemies of weapon systems abroad, that being said, I have an idea to make this work.

How about a rod of sorts, perhaps made from tungsten? Do you think you can re-work the description and kinetics around that?
