APPEARANCE: She had dark skin and dark hair that naturally grows in tight curls but is sometimes relaxed. Her eyes are naturally brown but she often wears coloured contacts to change this to match her attire.

She dresses very elegantly and likes to display her wealth wearing precious metals in her outfits routinely and even using gold or electrum leaf on top of her make up to decorate her face.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:

Incredible wealth - Inheriting vast mineral rights and the companies capable of extracting then has gifted her huge financial resources even at her relatively young age.
Intelligent - She was chosen by her father to receive the inheritance because she had the aptitude to enhance it further, she did very well at university and is considered very bright.
Beautiful - Graced with good genes Maëlys is a beautiful woman and cuts a striking figure.

Not a warrior - She fenced in university and knows how to use a duelling pistol. But she is no warrior and would be best to avoid a real fight.
Nickel allergy - A deep shame for a mineral geologist, but yes, she is allergic to nickel meaning any jewellery worn must be particularly pure or alloyed with alternative metals.

Military interest - Maëlys finds the military and Military technology fascinating, making her an engaged ally and willing financial backer for House Amnen Military forces.
Large family - Maëlys is the eldest daughter of several with mixed feelings over her being the favoured child. Some have her back to the death, others might consider stabbing it.

LINEAGE:

Maëlys has the Amnen family name after her ancestors married into the Amnen line about two hundred and forty years ago for political reasons, cementing influence for her ancestors and an important financial connection for Amnen.

The links over the years have grown less personal, most of the ruling class of Amnen might consider Maëlys a distant cousin. But the professional and business links are strong and Maëlys, like her father's before her, provides both resources and financial support for the ruling classes.

Her bloodline and claim to the Amnen name is pure and tracable, even if she has no claim to rule. For fun a while ago she worked out that she was 173rd in line for rulership of the Amnen family, should the current leaders die.

BIOGRAPHY:

Maëlys was the second child of Lincoln Amnen, a mining magnate from a long family of mining magnates, she led a very very privileged childhood and was granted many opportunities that other children her age might not get. She attended the best schools on muunilist and eventually attended a prestigious scientific university. She was the favourite of her father for a long time and always hoped to follow in his footsteps. Her elder brother had no interest in the mining industry and his leaving of Muunilist to follow his own dreams left the way open for her to become the heir to the company.

When she was 24 it happened, her father took ill and quickly succumbed, she was pleased that he got to see her graduate and that she was ready to inherit. There was a little infighting when the will was read but Maëlys was named as the owner of Lincoln's controlling stake of the company, with the other siblings given sizeable, but still significantly smaller inheritances of land, property and wealth.

It took a year for the transition to happen, there were several rivals to her position as CEO that jockeyed for power but through political and business manoeuvring she got the situation where she wanted it.

She now continues to build the wealth of the company and exports a large amount of mineral resources to neighbouring systems.

Six years ago she made a new move, acquiring a large mining company from the southern systems and set up a new holding. This time intended to mine both minerals, as was her expertise, but on Mon Gazza there is much more to mine than simply rock and spice was added to her portfolio. Her wealth has increased further and she has moved into a position of great power and influence on the world. As a human she could never hope to rule muunilist, but Mon Gazza is a much more realistic prospect and she was instrumental in restructuring their government into a more efficient corporate board. She lives in the renovated ruins of an old rulers palace on Mon Gazza and with the election of a fellow Oligarch to Chancellor in the adjoining Republic, things are looking up for her.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Mon Gazza was settled thousands of years ago when deep-range scanners identified it as a primary source of gas crystals and rare minerals. For centuries, it was a chaotic landscape of competing mining guilds and criminal syndicates. Its position on the Spice Terminus made it a natural hub for the refining and smuggling of illicit substances, particularly the stimulant "Thrusterhead."
During the podracing golden age, Mon Gazza became a legendary stop on the circuit, known for its treacherous vertical courses. However, the lack of a central government meant much of the planet's wealth was lost to corruption and infighting.
Recently, a mining oligarch from Muunilist saw the untapped potential in the planet's inefficiency. Through a masterclass in political intrigue, the oligarch purchased controlling interests in the largest firms and used blackmail to "persuade" the local Spice Lords to join a centralized Board of Directors. This restructuring has modernized the planet, providing the workforce with modular housing and better life-support systems, not out of kindness, but to ensure a more reliable and profitable output. Today, Mon Gazza stands as a cold, efficient machine of industry, where the roar of podracer engines competes only with the thrum of the spice refineries.
