Description:
The M9 is a custom designed Disruptor Carbine created to magnify and modernize all the known traits of current disruptor technology. Aiming to maximize battlefield potency, durability, and combat performance.
The weapon's anti-material beam, (or bolt), is created by snap-release capacitor and directed through a magnetic lensing system, or mirror barrel.This creates a zero recoil solution while still compensating for light-based projectile accuracy.It is an extremely accurate weapon, cannot jam, can fire while submerged, and is sized for CQC urban combat. Maintaining a rifle's clean accuracy, (and anti-material potency), even outside of close combat distances.
Weapon damage of modern Disruptors is slightly different than older versions throughout history. A single anti-material beam can vary wildly in power and potential largely based upon the type and phase of matter it must travel through to reach it's intended target.A single bolt can retain more activated energy with which to cause damage if it fires through the near vacuum of space. Likewise, a single bolt retains less energy if it is fired underwater. However. Holding the trigger down and charging the capacitor for six seconds, the energy now released can allow the beam to reach to it's full damage potential regardless of current conditions. However this does not increase it's effective range and in some cases can cause damage the firearms capacitor. Charged, the weapon can now reach it's true potential and turn most targets into dust.
Of further note. This weapon can be blocked by a lightsaber but not deflected.The beam can technically exist but loses all potency beyond it's effective range.
Wear and tear. The down-side of the modern Disruptor is that you are still creating a directed thermal eruption. An event which creates caustic sound and generous amounts of heat. As such this weapon cannot be silenced, cannot fire a sustained beam due to heat warp, can theoretically cause eye damage from the muzzle flash, and has been speculated to only be able to fire a maximum 2000 times before the mirror barrel lensing system must be replaced. This is not a 10+ year service rifle.
The gun was designed with an integrated Stun setting. This cannot be removed as it is a part of the complex design spec. The top of the weapon also features a very generic rail mount system that is capable of mounting any number of modular attachments. Such as scopes, sights, lasers, flashlights, etc. Lastly. Ammo and replacement parts are all custom made from the factory. With generic surplus parts being a rare and expensive commodity in the modern market.
