Charged Shot - By holding down the trigger and charging the weapon, the operator is capable of unleashing a devastating blast from the M58 Series II that has a higher stopping power and is nearly capable of punching through light or medium armors at close range; at the expense of using up the entire power cell and gas canister of the weapon.

Ergonomic Grip - Designed to ensure that the weapon could be used in as many appendages as possible, the M58 Series II was constructed with an ergonomic grip - meaning that even a species such as the Geonosians are capable of firing the weapon.

Durability - Built to last, be it dropped in mud, run over by a light vehicle or left in a storeroom for a century - the M58 Series II is more than capable of taking a beating and still be in a fully functional firing condition.

Cling - A holdover from the predecessor Series I; the M58 Series II retains the annoying quirk that when the last bolt as been fired, the power cell is ejected with an audible clinging noise. While this is normally difficult to hear on a wide-spread noisy battlefield, it is audible enough in close quarters to alert the enemy that the operator is reloading.

Cool Down Period - The M58 Series II requires at least 15 minutes or more (roughly 2 - 3 IC posts) to permit the barrel to cool down before it is capable of firing another charged shot. While it is capable of firing a charged shot immediately following one another; the second charge shot will irreparably damage the M58 Series II, rendering it useless to the operator.

Power for Range - The M58 Series II Carbine exchanges its effectiveness at long ranges for higher stopping power. It is all but useless when engaging targets at what a normal Blaster Rifle would consider the Average range.

In effect, the M58 Commenor Series II Blaster Carbine is a smaller variant of the M58 Series II Blaster Rifle; albeit with its own strengths and weaknesses while also sharing some with the larger blaster rifle. For example, it retains its durability that the Commenor Series is known for; capable of withstanding abuse, being run over by light vehicles or caked in mud and gunk. Additionally, its ergonomic grip is a direct carry-over from the M58 Series II Blaster Rifle, as a means to ensure that the Carbine can wind up in just as many appendages as the Blaster Rifle variant.

Where it diverts from the Blaster Rifle is in its lower munitions count, higher stopping power, and the capability of unleashing a charged shot. Having exchanged the capability to fire accurately at targets over long ranges; it rather focuses its burst to provide higher stopping power. This is often coupled with its capability of unleashing a charged shot - at the expense of the power cell and gas canister - that can often punch through light and medium armors in close range. However, the downside of this shot is that the weapon requires time to cool down; though more than capable of firing two successive charged shots - this would otherwise cause irreparable damage to the M58 Carbine.
