STRENGTHS

Heavy Armaments - The M15-A has been outfitted with multiple heavier armaments than what is commonly seen on similarly sized vessels.

Long-range Multi-role - Numerous gun emplacements classify the craft as a heavy fighter, whilst its capabilities to carry heavier ordnance allow it to function as a bomber in special circumstances. This flexibility allows it to compliment the weaknesses of the M5-A Scyk with which it is often deployed.

Hardpoints - The M15-A is capable of carrying a large arsenal for a vessel of its size due to the inclusion of multiple hardpoints located along its extensive wingspan. This allows technicians to arm the craft with a variety of armaments that include additional Proton Torpedoes, Flechette Missiles, and Ion Bombs, to name a select few.

WEAKNESSES

Limited Deployment - The M15-A borders on the edge between Starfighter and Gunship due to its markedly larger size compared to its predecessors, largely to accommodate its larger payload. However, this also prevents larger numbers of these craft from being deployed due to the space and limitations of supporting these vessels.

Power Converter - Each craft is equipped with a specialized L-41c engine component. This Power Converter allows the gunner to draw power from the engines and divert it to the weapon systems of the craft, allowing them to be fired for a prolonged period. However, the primary drawback of utilizing this converter is the decrease in the output of the engines, resulting in a slower speed for the craft.

Aft-Coverage - While outfitted with an extensive arsenal of weapons, overall coverage is limited to the fore, starboard, and port vectors of the starship. Though possessing a ball turret, its location on the ventral section further limits its usefulness when dealing with attacks from the aft or dorsal vectors.

DESCRIPTION

The M15-A Kimogila-type Heavy Starfighter is the second design in a new series of designs to be produced and manufactured by Aether Systems under contract with the Mandalorian Empire. The design of the M15-A Kimogila retains the aesthetics of its predecessors, however, was largely inspired by the Aether GS-01 and the BTL-S10 K-wing - both of which were also designed and produced by Aether Systems. This inspiration is easily seen both in its overall size, as the M15-A is considerably larger than its predecessor the M12-L Kimogila; as well as in its capabilities to be outfitted with a wider variety of armaments due to being outfitted with additional hardpoints along its extended wingspan. These hardpoints allow the craft to be armed with additional armaments, including additional Proton Torpedoes, Flechette Missiles, and Ion Bombs - which allow it to function as a bomber in special circumstances. The M15-A was also designed to provide a heavy platform for skilled pilots and gunners and is equipped with heavier armaments and increased defensive capabilities further blurring the line between Heavy Starfighter and Gunship. However, many of these weapons only cover limited approach vectors, rendering the vessel more open to strikes from the aft and dorsal. Each of these craft are also equipped with a specialized L-41c Engine Component - allowing the gunners to draw power from the engines and divert it to the weapon systems of the craft. This components allows the weapons of the craft to be fired for a prolonged periord, however, the primary drawback of utilizing this converter is the decreased output of the engines, reducing the overall speed and limited its sublight speeds. Additionally, its overall size also limits how many of these craft can be deployed - as the M15-A is considerably larger in size than its predecessors resulting in lower squadron sizes due to the space and limitations of supporting these vessels. The M15-A also boasts an expanded flight crew, including two gunners and replacing the astromech - present in its predecessors - with a dedicated engineer to provide additional support to the crew. Those that have some experience piloting or utilizing the Aether GS-01 or even the BTL-S10 K-wing will find the M15-A Kimogila an easily accessible craft as it shares a similar design layout as seen in the aformentioned crafts. The overall design of the M15-A Kimogila, even with its flaws and drawbacks, still provides the Mandalorians with a heavy weapons platform that can be easily utilized by any skilled pilot or those who have the proper training. While the size of these vessels prevent them from being deployed in larger numbers, its versatility allows it to easily compliment the weaknesses present in the M5-A Scyk which it is often deployed alongside. Overall, the M15-A Kimogila-type Heavy Starfighter provides the Mandalorian Empire with a heavy hitter that can easily pivot to other roles when required.
