DESCRIPTION

Originally, a Pamarthen Cutter was a custom-built racer that most of the Galaxy would call an "Ugly". They were popular and really the only way to race in the professional circuits. Far from the Core and most civilization Pamarthe had been left on its own despite providing some of the best pilots in the Galaxy, both racing and military and thus these "Cutters" doubled as protection in the planet's militia-based defense forces. A pilot by the name of MacNeal Hart rose to prominence sometime during the tumultuous and murky time period following the fall of Palpatine's Galactic Empire. Along with his Cutter he cut a swathe through pirates and imperial alike driving many to imitate his success in his design. Over time, long after MacNeal's death, the design became almost standard.

At a length of twelve meters, the aggressive frame of the M-Type Cutter featured a distinctive rectangular grilled radiator flanked on either side by starfighter-grade ion cannons. Its peculiar wing design and use of negative space gave the vessel an incredible advantage when fighting in the atmosphere and acted as radiators for the powerful rotary laser cannons mounted on either side of the main fuselage. The vessel also included one concussion missile launcher and an ordinance launcher for proton torpedoes on the port and starboard sides of the cutter respectively. Unlike many of its contemporaries, the M-Type cutters lacked any obvious large engine housings but were instead propelled by three ion engines pulled from TIE-series vessels throughout the years. The maneuverable engines offered movement abilities that were nearly unrivaled in the Outer Rim. This combined with the sound of the radiator produced a sound not unlike a TIE when in flight.

The four wings of the M-Type Cutter were designed to fold in and had a deployable solar sail that filled in the negative space between the wings and the high tensile strength cable that ran from the tip of each wing to the fuselage. In the ether, these sails could be used as extra etheric rudders, allowing for even faster turns and death-defying stunts. Despite this great innovation however, the Cutters were not designed for extended space flight and lacked their own onboard life support systems and their navigation computers were severely lacking. As a result, cheap, short-range hyperdrives were installed on the M-Type Cutters leased out by the militia. In combat, though likely able to fly circles around whatever it was engaging, the M-Type Cutter lacked any meaningful armor, relying almost entirely on its energy shields. High-velocity shrapnel, slug throwers, and missiles posed a serious danger to the vessel with not an insignificant amount of pilots having lost their lives to random space debris or clipping a sea rock or cliff the wrong way.

M-Types leased by the militia could eventually be purchased after a certain amount of time serving with the milita. Even though however, many found their way back and were tuned back up into fighting shape. As a result of families owning and then returning or reselling the vessels many come with two seats and a surprising amount of cargo storage for survival supplies or that extra carton of blue ice cream. It also means that some of these vessels have been flying since the time of the Empire and come with the pride of Pamarthen service.
