OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a recurring civilian NPC for Adonis Angelis IV and Adonis Angelis Industries. Lys serves as Adonis's Executive Assistant and longtime friend, giving Adonis a recurring character connected to the civilian and corporate side of his life.
  • Role: Lys Solan is the Executive Assistant to Adonis Angelis IV and one of his closest civilian confidantes. She handles much of Adonis's schedule, correspondence, travel, meetings, and the everyday responsibilities that come with dividing his time between Adonis Angelis Industries, House Angelis, and his duties as Warden of Vaal. Lys has worked beside Adonis since AAI was a considerably smaller company and has known him long enough that much of the usual formality between an executive and their assistant has disappeared. The two were briefly romantically involved earlier in their relationship, though it never developed into anything serious. They have remained close friends since.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Age: 30
  • Force Sensitivity: Non-Force User
  • Species: Human
  • Appearance: Lys stands around 5'8" with a lean build, light olive skin, hazel eyes, and dark brown hair that falls a little past her shoulders. She usually wears it loose, though long days have a habit of ending with it tied back while she works. Lys is an attractive woman and knows how to dress accordingly, favoring tailored suits, fitted trousers, blouses, and understated jewelry. Her wardrobe tends toward darker colors with occasional ivory and gold accents. She is rarely overdressed, but almost never looks underdressed either. Years of accompanying Adonis to everything from corporate meetings to formal events have given her a wardrobe for just about every occasion.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Lys Solan
  • Loyalties: Adonis Angelis IV, Adonis Angelis Industries, Vaal
  • Wealth: Lys is well paid for her position within AAI and lives comfortably because of it. She has no great family fortune and owns no meaningful portion of the company, however. Most of what she has comes from her own career. As her income has grown, she has developed a taste for nice clothes, good restaurants, and traveling comfortably whenever somebody else isn't choosing the itinerary for her.
  • Notable Possessions: Nothing particularly extraordinary. Lys owns a nice apartment, an extensive wardrobe, and the usual collection of personal electronics expected of someone in her position. Her AAI credentials give her access to areas and information within the company that most employees would never see.
  • Skills:
    • Administration
    • Negotiation
    • Crisis Management
    • Public Relations
    • Networking
    • Contractual and Financial Literacy
    • Event Planning
    • Diplomatic Etiquette
  • Languages:
  • Personality: Lys is confident, outgoing, organized, and generally easy to get along with. She has spent enough time around executives, politicians, nobles, soldiers, and Mandalorians that very few titles impress her anymore. She knows when to be professional, but she isn't stiff. Lys enjoys gossip, fine dinners, getting dressed up when she actually has somewhereto go, and teasing the people she likes.

Her sense of humor tends to be dry, especially around Adonis. Years of working together have left her largely immune to his status, and she is one of the few people in his professional life who will always tell him when she thinks he is being an idiot. She has been known to interrupt him, change his schedule without permission, put food in front of him when he has forgotten to eat, and more than once tell people that the Warden is unavailable.

For all of that confidence, Lys has her own insecurities. AAI has grown into something far larger than the company she originally joined, and Adonis's life has changed even more dramatically. Lys is proud of the part she played in that growth, but she sometimes wonders what she has actually built for herself. She has spent so much of her adult life becoming indispensable to someone else that she isn't entirely sure what her life would look like without him.

COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Weapon of Choice: A small hold-out blaster when circumstances require one.
  • Combat Function: Lys is not a fighter. She knows how to use a blaster well enough to defend herself in an emergency and has received basic security training through AAI, but that is about the extent of it. If shooting starts, her priority is getting herself and other civilians somewhere safe. She is much more useful coordinating an evacuation, bandaging wounds, or keeping people calm than attempting fighting alongside trained soldiers. Against an experienced combatant, Lys is badly outmatched.
  • Force Abilities (Force Users Only): N/A

Strengths:
  • People Person: Lys is great with people. She can move comfortably between a boardroom, state dinner, factory floor, or award ceremony, and usually has a good sense of how to approach anyone standing in front of her.
  • Been Here Awhile: Lys has been with AAI long enough to remember when many of its current systems, relationships, and traditions didn't exist. She remembers old agreements, former employees, previous mistakes, and old promises that never made it into official reports. When something strange comes across Adonis's desk, there is a decent chance Lys knows about it.

Weaknesses:
  • Civilian: Lys has no armor, Force abilities, or serious combat training. The people surrounding Adonis frequently live dangerous lives, and Lys simply isn't built for that world.
  • Indispensable: Lys has spent years making herself useful to Adonis, and somewhere along the way she became a little too good at it. She has difficulty delegating things, and has a habit of checking work even when she is supposed to be off. More personally, so much of her identity has become tied to being Adonis's right hand that she occasionally struggles to separate her own ambitions from his.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Lys Solan grew up on Vaal in a comfortable but otherwise unremarkable family. Her parents were neither nobles nor industrialists, and there was no family business waiting for her when she became an adult. She did well in school, particularly anywhere organization and numbers were involved, and eventually pursued an education in business administration.

She spent the first few years of her career bouncing between administrative jobs. Lys was good at the work, but she hated feeling like another name buried somewhere in a corporate directory. When an opportunity appeared at the much younger Adonis Angelis Industries, she took it. AAI was smaller then, growing quickly, and considerably less organized than the company it would eventually become.

Then she met Adonis.

Managing his schedule was supposed to be a job. It quickly became something closer to a never ending argument.

Adonis wanted to be everywhere. Mines needed inspecting, contracts needed negotiating, equipment needed reviewing, and there was always another meeting he thought could somehow fit into a full day. Lys became very good at deciding which problems actually required him and which ones could be handled without adding another stop on his itinerary.

The arrangement worked well. As AAI grew, Lys grew with it. She learned the company by being there while much of the expansion was being built. She knew the employees who had been around before the nicer offices, remembered negotiations that nearly collapsed, and watched ideas that began as conversations turn into actual facilities across Vaal. Eventually she stopped feeling like someone Adonis had hired and started feeling like someone building the company alongside him, even if his name remained on the building.

Somewhere during those first two years, their relationship became personal as well. There was never a grand romance between them, they were young, spent far too much time together, liked each other, and eventually stopped pretending they weren't young and attractive. Whatever they had lasted for a time before both realized that neither was particularly interested in turning it into something more serious. There was no dramatic breakup- they went back to work, remained friends, and eventually became comfortable enough with the whole thing to occasionally make jokes about it.

AAI continued expanding, while Adonis accumulated responsibilities that had very little to do with running a mining company. His Mandalorian obligations took him away from Vaal for increasingly long stretches, House Angelis demanded his attention, and eventually he became Warden of Vaal. Lys remained beside him through the changes, gradually becoming the person responsible for making all of those different pieces of his life fit onto the calendar.

Today, Lys acts as the filter between Adonis and a galaxy that increasingly wants something from him. She decides what can wait, what cannot, who gets ten minutes, and who is going to receive a very polite message explaining that the Warden's schedule is full.

It has given her a good career, a comfortable life, and a front-row seat to watching something become far larger than she ever expected.

Lately, however, Lys has started asking herself a question she never had time to consider when they were younger.

What comes next?
