  • Canon: N/A
  • Links: N/A
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Lyrkon
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Homeworld: Mikko
  • Language: Lyrkosi, Galactic Basic
  • Average Lifespan: 120 years
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description: The Lyrkons are a proud, beautiful, and diverse people. They have a strong sense of self-pride that is borderline narcissistic. However, they do show care and affection for those outside their race. The Lyrkons cherish the use of technology in every aspect of their life and thrive to stay current in terms of technological age.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I
  • Average height of adults: 1.9m
  • Average length of adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Purple, Blue, Gray
  • Hair color: Black, White, Blue, Gray
  • Distinctions: The Lyrkons resemble typical humans for the most part. They have the same biological characteristics as humans including a set of eyes, ears, hands and feet, all with 5 digits each, and lips. Only difference is the range of skin colors which can be anywhere from a pale blue to a soft violet to a slate gray. Also, Lyrkon have an organ within their body known as the lyrric which, when used by a Lyrkon, emits a soothing humming sound that can lull the opposite sex into a sense of peacefulness and ease and eventually can lull someone into a deep sleep. The Lyrkon can only use their lyrric once a day so it may rest. Using the lyrric more than once a day is possible, but, any more than once leads to permanent damage to the lyrric, rendering it useless.
  • Races: There are several races of Lyrkon on the planet Mikko. The races are divided by their continent of birth and each race has a specific accent tied to their region of birth, which is how one tells where they are from along with other distinctions.

Affkin Lyrkons - The Affkin Lyrkons hail from Affki. Affki is Lyrkosi for 'spirit peaks' as this is the more mountainous continent on Mikko. The Lyrkons from this region tend to be taller and more heavyset than other Lyrkons and their voices tend to be more baritone than other Lyrkons. (Think Nords of Skyrim)

Maican Lyrkons - The Maican Lyrkons are the more common race of Lyrkons as they hail from the largest continent known as Maica. Maica is where the Mikko capital, Viniifall City, is located. Maica is mostly urban cityscapes along with industrial zones and, in between the major cities, lush plains and forests. These are your typical Lyrkons at around average height and weight. Their accent is smooth, sweet and charming. (Think Romanian)

Zyhtosian Lyrkons - The Zythosian Lyrkons hail from the vast desert of Zythosia on the continent of the same name. These Lyrkons have grown accustom to the high temperatures and slow pace of the desertfolk lifestyle. These Lyrkons hold onto more of the old ways than other Lyrkons, but still are in touch with their technological side. These Lyrkons are typically skinnier than your basic Lyrkons as they don't require as much food to live as those on other continents. Their voices are soft and ethnic. Out of the Lyrkon races, they have the most exotic. (Think Arabic)
  • Strengths:

Lyrric Organ*: All pureblood Lyrkons are born with an organ in their bodies, more specifically in their throats, that they can activate to hum a soothing song that, at first, calms the minds of those around the Lyrkon and eventually puts them into a deep sleep. Lyrkon are immune to this, of course.

  • Weaknesses:

Technological Dependence: The Lyrkons have become so dependent on technology that without it, they would be severely handicapped.

Lyrric Limits: Despite the lyrric organ being a very useful tool, it should only be used once a day. Using it more than once a day will lead to internal bleeding inside of the organ and, eventually, death. Also, this organ only works on Near-Humans and Humans so attempting to use it on a species that is not Human/Near-Human, it will fail.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Omnivorous
  • Communication: Verbal, Written
  • Technology level: The Lyrkons believe that to survive, one must stay 2 steps ahead of those around them. They do whatever it takes to stay up to above the standard when it comes to technology.
  • Religion/Beliefs: An unnamed religion used to be prevalent on the planet thousands of years ago, but now, only the Zythosian Lyrkons practice the old ways and it is even rare among them.
  • General behavior:

Lyrkons are a close knit people. In history, they've rarely left their home system except on the most necessary occasions. They are not racist in any sense but they do have an impressive amount of patriotism. They want nothing more than to see their people thrive and become something more. The Lyrkons are not above putting others up as well as long as those people want that. The Lyrkons do not believe in the word 'outsider'. They believe everyone has the right to tread wherever they please so long as they do not have any ill intent.

Lyrkons strongly believe that family and relationships are bonds that are meant to be kept strong and will last a lifetime. They even treat their close friends as if they were one of their kin. The Lyrkon are an accepting people but do not tolerate those who openly denounce their way of life or anything they believe. Lyrkons will fight to the end to defend their beliefs. They're stubborn like that. Lyrkons are lovers of all forms of the arts, but music is their most adored by the people. From their tribal days, music has been an integral part of the Lyrkon history and continues to be.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Several thousands of years ago, the first signs of sentient life had appeared. These people called themselves Lyrkons. In their language, this meant "people of the faith". In their early years, the Lyrkons wandered their world as tribes. As their numbers grew larger and larger as decades went by, they began to phase out of their nomadic ways and begin to construct settlements across their world. The tribes were split by their regions which they called home. The Affkin people found their home in the Affki mountains, the Maican people decided to settle in the hills and valleys of Maica, and the Zythosian tribe decided to live in the arid deserts of Zythos. Although the tribes lived in different parts of the world, they continued working together for the future of all their people.

A few centuries after the settlements were established, the Republic had discovered the Lyrkon people and brought them space-age technology and spent many years aiding their people in moving towards the future. The Lyrkon people were already an inventive people. They easily retained the information brought to them by the Republic ambassadors. After the Republic ambassadors left, the Lyrkon tribe leaders met with one another to discuss the future of their people. In the end, they decided, as a whole, that the time had come to advance. Over the next several decades, they began to industrialize. Soon, villages turned into thriving cities and the Lyrkon tribes soon turned into the Lyrkon Empire. This empire stretched throughout the whole planet and, eventually, the entire Hios system.

*The lyrric's effectiveness is up to the opposing writer.

For the most part this is completely fine, but their main ability is a bit concerning.

I am not really comfortable with this organ being effective against every species out there. Please limit it to only near-humans and think up one more weakness to this ability that will balance it out more.

[member="Jairus Starvald"] I added in the part about Near-Humans. I think that should be enough considering there is a canon species that can basically do the same thing but not as severe as paralysis. If you truly think it'll require another weakness I'll add another.

The Codex doesn't accept precedence, neither in the form of previously approved submissions nor in the form of canonical species. This has been the case ever since dev threads were removed and balance became the main way to determine if a submission is to pass.

I did some thinking, add an OOC note that it's to the opposing writer to decide the effect the organ has on them and I will stamp it.

[member="Jairus Starvald"] Considering most, if not all PCs, will say they are unaffected by the organ, I changed it from paralysis to a deep sleep.

Will this be ok?

[member="Sila"]

I am fine with that change, but I am gonna need that note anyway. It's board standard that no one can force anything on other people's characters- a note like that will clarify that for new people, if they ever get in contact with this submission.
