Currently aboard: Castle Morpheus
The Android's white high heels clicked into the vast throne room of Castle Morpheus.
Her mother, Nine Lives, was at the far end. Her features concealed under a hooded green kimono with white rose print on its surface. The only way to tell she was staring was the glints of purple light from the center of her eyes under the hood.
"West tells me we have a prospective candidate for partnership." Her mother said in her contralto.
"Inventor. Likes to steal stuff on the side." Vera confirmed in her faint naturally programmed accent. "His company is thriving. What samples of his work we have purchased and examined are quite advanced."
"How do you plan to evaluate him?"
"I've invited him and his brothers aboard to discuss a project. He's going to make me a dress, according to our design specifications. Well, not for 'me' specifically. He's making it for one of my cover identities. He doesn't know we are one and the same."
"If he measures up to our design standards?" Nine asked.
Vera shrugged. "I intend to open up a partnership with him, provide our blueprints for weaponry so he can make adaptations. Ten percent cut off every sale."
"Can he be trusted enough to be inducted? I'm not going to want someone who will steal our secrets the moment he doesn't like how we do business."
"The operation after the dress will determine that."
"You will watch him closely?"
"Like a hawk. We're due to rendezvous with his ship in fifteen minutes."
Her mother leaned forward.
"Don't give him anything too sensitive at first if he passes your little test. Let's see how he will do with the least complicated of our tech before we trust him with more advanced stuff. If we deal, we deal cautiously."
Vera nodded. "I'll be having tea with him in my suite. You can watch the feed if you like."
"I intend to." her mother said gravely, still not mentally recovered from her ordeal with The Amalgam. Vera had assumed much of Nine's duties running the family. Nine was a figurehead for the moment in the very house she had founded. The amount of nightmares her mother suffered actually stirred deeper concern beyond what Vera's programming dictated. Nine had proven she had loved the murderous biot once, and the memory of that proof stuck. Vera actually was surprised to find she was actually sad to see Mother this way. She sat alone in her throne often, or in her lab doing work. But Vera heard her screaming in her sleep. Westenra was trying to treat her, but progress was very slow. Nine had been driven almost to her breaking point resisting the brutal torture she had been put through at The Amalgam's hands.
Vera turned to look at her mother one more time on her throne lonely and silent, and headed to her suite
Fifteen minutes later...
The ship had only been recently repaired but they were still in the red. It meant having to make deals.
The more time went on, the more Vera began to understand the purpose of giving her android daughters multiple covers. Westenra was basically a diplomat in The GA solely through a mere few months of financial investment predictions and fundraising for the military. She could also pull intel as one of the field operatives. As as Psychologist, she had access to the secrets of wealthy clientele. The strategy of the clan was to have a finger in as many pies as possible
Vera had more specialized applications.
She was designed as more of a long term infiltrator.
As she sat at a luxury table in her all white suite, tea and sushi prepared for her guest, she began going over the psyche profile Westenra had provided...Taji didn't know Westenra was associated with the Morpheus. She wanted to keep it that way. Vera composed herself, papers for contracts in a handy briefcase nearby. Her pale skin, raven hair, and red lipstick stuck out in the Suite as she ran through all the sales pitches in her head.
The Castle came out of hyperspace at the designated coordinates to meet their ship. Once it was aboard the hangar, Taji and his brothers would find the Morpheus Knights in their brown, Yovshin inspired Power Armor standing in two rows on either side of the hatch as an honor guard detail, ready to escort Taji's brothers to her suite.
Upon seeing Taji, Cera stood up and smiled.
"Mister Nelson. Good of you to have guests. I would be honored if you would join us..." she said in a friendly, welcoming manner, to compensate for the Atrisian Gothic facade that made up the ship interior for the most part, the entrance outside her room lined with engraved images of Oni, fiving the whole ship a deeply sinister edge, save for Vera's all white suite, which seemed completely out of place, that was including the gorgeous, curvy lawyer of middle age speaking to them.
"The Castle is dreary I know, but we have a wonderful library. Have a seat. Eel Sushi and Black Tea is the Chef Specialty."
