- Vong Biot: Since this is a vong biot, is pretty much unable to be affected by the force, for good or bad
- Rapid flight speed: This biot is designed to fly at speeds that rival those of your average missile
- Explosive: This thing is a personal missile, basically, so it detonates
- Small target: This thing is pretty small, and that makes it hard to shoot, hit, or otherwise damage.
- Homing Missile: See strengths and details for how it works in full detail, but basically this thing acts like a homing missile in flight, it locks on its target visually and flies till it hits it.
Strengths:
- Homing Missile: This small bug homes in on its targets pretty well. Its visual receptors are pretty great, so its good at what it does--moving in to hit a target with maximum damage and efficiency, even if that means moving around a few barriers.
- Safe against Squishy: This bug is no mere impact explosive. So, if someone smashes the bug on the user, the user is ok (even if its a waste of a good biot). There is an internal charge that makes this badboy detonate.
- Vong Biot: Since this is a vong biot, is pretty much unable to be directly affected by the force, for good or bad
- Short flight distance: This bug is designed to go a short distance then detonate. It can't go across a battlefield or go searching forever, its made for personal range. Also, this thing is limited to line of sight, so really, if you can't see what you want the Luku Plika to hit it won't really have any idea where to go, and will stay put. If your target moves, then the Luku Plika will chase it down for a limited distance. If the target has a cloaking device active or activates one, then the Luku Plika won't be able to see it in the first place--or will just detonate where it last saw the target. If the Target uses any other form of visual altering (like using the Force to alter their appearance totally), the Luku Plika will just detonate where it last saw the target. Since you have to see the target, it quite literally cannot be used by the blind.
- Wind: This thing is pretty small. Winds at like 32.1 km/hr (20 mph) and higher could totally mess with this thing's flight patterns, slow it down, or (if its coming from behind) speed it up. In effect, wind could change its direction, even temporarily, and slow down or whatever.
- Space: The Luku Plika has a need for air to fly.
- Air: The Luki Plika is a living thing, so it still needs air in general. Regular grenades can be stored in air tight containers, or any kind of whatever, but the Luku Plika requires air to survive. The Luku Plika is exceptionally vulnerable to asphyxiation, without air the bug will die in 10 seconds.
- Prepping: The Luku Plika isn't some weapon you can just pick up off the shelve and use--or just grab off a dead body and use. Establishing the low-grade telepathy link requires exposed skin for the Luku Plika to penetrate and syphon blood from and about 15 minutes to prepare the link. Effectively, its not gonna be an isntant thing in the combat situation.
- Not for Force users: Part of the Luku Plika's use involves actually inserting Vong tissue into the user. When Force users were subjected to this, the tissue within the Force user aggressively attacked them and the Luku Plika itself detonates on the Force user. This sort of stuff doesn't occur any other time except when its attempting to link to a Force sensitive or Force user. For all intents and purposes, this is pretty dangerous for Force users to try and use.
- Only 3: At any one time, a user can only link 3 Luku Plika to their body. If more are linked to the user, the first one will just simply lose the link and have to grow back their Yammosk tissue they implant to the user for their telepathic link (this takes about 24-25 hours) before they can be linked to anyone again.
While ships, speeders, and land warfare is fantastic, there has been a tragic lack of development with Vong made personal weapons. At RMIA we love the Amphistaff as much as the next guy but we also love something even more--being able to make cool weapons that change the playing field.
The Sparkbee is great, fantastic really in the way it works, giving us great things like the blast bug. So the Shaper experts working for RMIA went to work on making it do something even better. Using it starts before combat even begins.
The Luku Plika works off of low grade telepathy. It acquires a very basic form of it by drinking a small amount of the users blood (like a mosquito) and latching on for 15 minutes. It hurts a little, but its nothing lethal. Once this telepathic link is established, the Luku Plika goes dormant until it either siphons off someone else's blood or until it is sent on its path.
Telepathy is the halmark of a lot of Vong tech. When you take into account the Yammosk, Dovin Basal, and Cognition Throne, their use of the mind is really nothing short of extraordinary. The initial concept was to use a miniaturized version of the Cognition throne to interact with the Luku Plika, however this proved to be prohibitively expensive for really any market. Instead, Dovin Basal tissue was implanted directly into the Luku Plika's brains and during the blood exchange, the Luku transfers minor amounts of Yammosk tissue into the user's nervous system. The Luku then responds to the user's single command to go towards its target. Note that the Dovin Basal tissue in the Luku Plika's brain is not enough to make a singularity or in any way affect any gravity at all, its just there for the telepathic connection.
As a tiny little thing, the Luku Plika will fit in your ammo pouch and is about the size of a magazine or grenade. It doesn't really offer any trouble until you take it out and are ready to use it. All the user has to do is send a visual image of the target and its round about location to the Luku Plika and the bug will take off with missile like speeds, home in on it, and blast. The explosion is fairly sizable, temperatures reach 2750 degrees Fahrenheit (1370 C), in a 1 meter radius, and an understandable concussive wave follows strong enough to knock most beings off their feet and a boom that is pretty loud too and rather disorienting. The heat radiates out from that explosion of course, getting cooler. So, even if someone is able to avoid the direct blast or heat, they still have the concussion wave to deal with, which can turn your insides into jello pudding (metaphorically of course).
The bad thing is, the Luku Plika has a limited range, so it can't just go off searching a field for whoever you want to blow up, its a line of sight type weapon (sorry for all you blind folks) and the visual has to be pretty strong--strong enough to where you've seen the individual within the past 3 seconds or know them really really well, other wise the psychic impression won't be strong enough. Also, this thing is a bug, so high winds can knock it about and affect its flight pattern.
All in all, its just a unique sort of living weapon for soldiers to bring to the game field to shake things up.
