STRENGTHS
  • Heavy Armaments - Each craft boasts an impressive array of weaponry and is capable of being equipped with additional ordnance depending on the mission and the role that the craft is expected to play.
  • High Maneuverability - The LRS-B is designed to rapidly deploy and strike at a target which is accomplished due to the increased speed and maneuverability of the craft which is greater when compared to similar bomber designs. Each LRS-B W-wing also utilizes this increased speed and maneuverability in lieu of heavier defenses.
  • TX-100 Weapon Component - Initially designed as a heavy bomber, the LRS-B is equipped with a specialized weapon component. The TX-100 provides an additional boost to the output of the weaponry and increases its maximum weapon power.
  • Hardpoints - A series of additional hardpoints are located along the underside of each wing. These hardpoints are capable of being equipped to carry an additional variety of ordnance from conventional to thermonuclear in nature.

WEAKNESSES
  • Minimal Defenses - With a focus on a capability designed to rapidly deploy, strike a target, and egress, the LRS-B lacks the same defensive capabilities that are often seen in other Bombers. As a means to ensure that the craft is capable of carrying its payload and providing a higher speed and maneuverability, the design removed heavier armor plating or additional defensive measures.
  • Squadron Capacity - The overall size of the LRS-B in regards to its width requires additional room to be made to carry the craft in a Capital Vessel or deploy it from a hangar bay. This requirement also dictates the number of these craft that are deployed in a singular squadron which is lower in number. The LRS-B is often deployed in squadrons consisting of no more than four LRS-B W-wings.
  • Crew Optimization - Though the LRS-B W-wing is capable of being piloted by a singular individual, its capabilities would be greatly diminished without the additional crew and assistance from an Astromech Droid to fully operate the craft.
  • Limited Firing Arcs - Much of the heavy armament of the craft is focused in the forward and aft firing arcs with no coverage to the port and starboard. This often necessitates the deployment of escort Starfighters to provide cover during an engagement or bombing run.

DESCRIPTION
The ability to deploy a force, strike at a target, and retreat from the area in rapid succession can oft times mean the difference between ending a war before it begins or falling into a protracted conflict that will cost thousands of lives. As the Galaxy once more faces the reality that conflict is on the horizon, the LRS-B W-wing Heavy Strike Bomber was designed to provide the Galactic Alliance with the capability to rapidly strike at an enemy in a bid to prevent a protracted conflict while also providing its Navy with a craft that is capable of delivering both conventional and thermonuclear weapons. The LRS-B W-wing is designed with a focus on heavy armaments, high speed, and agile maneuverability - to succeed in this end, it has otherwise focused on these points in lieu of heavier defensive capabilities that are often seen on standard bomber configurations.

Each craft is capable of being outfitted with additional ordnance due to the hardpoints located along the underside of its wings, while also already being capable of unleashing a torrent of Proton Bombs and a barrage of heavy laser fire. Though the LRS-B is heavily armed, much of its weaponry is focused on the forward and aft firing arcs, which leave the port and starboard of the craft vulnerable. This vulnerability often necessitates the additional deployment of escort Fighters to provide cover against Interceptors. Each LRS-B W-wing is also equipped with a TX-100 Weapon Component which can increase the maximum weapon power of the craft's armaments. Additionally, the LRS-B was designed to be operated by a crew of three with further assistance from an Astromech Droid; though capable of being operated by a singular individual, the capabilities of the craft become greatly diminished as said individual attempts to operate all aspects of the LRS-B W-wing.

Though the LRS-B W-wing is only deployed in limited numbers in a squadron due to its size, its capability as a heavy strike bomber more than makes up for this drawback. As conflict looms, the capabilities of the LRS-B W-wing in filling a role as a strike craft capable of hitting an enemy target and exiting in rapid succession provide the Galactic Alliance with an additional tool that can be utilized in its already extensive tool chest.
