SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Integrated Light & Targeting Laser: The LPD-11 has integrated light and targeting laser built into the gun just to the left of the main gas chamber and Xciter in the main receiver.
  • Splitter Coupling: Like the Millenium Falcon's quad laser cannons, the LPD-11 has a splitter coupling. When the LPD-11 fires, it actually fires two separate blaster bolts that are so close together that they appear to be one bolt. While this has no effect on unshielded targets, it improves the ability of the LPD-11 to pierce through shields as the shield contends with two simultaneous points of impact.
  • Combined Gas & Powerpack Magazine: The LPD-11 has an internal magazine in the grip that stores both a gas cylinder and a powerpack. Rather than reloading both of them separately, the user can use prepared magazines to exchange both ammunition types simultaneously.
  • Grip Safety: The LPD-11 has an unusual forward grip safety to reduce the incidences of accidental discharge. In order for the weapon to fire, the metal tab underneath the trigger guard must be pressed in by the holding hand.
  • Stun Setting: Like many blasters, the LPD-11 has a stun setting.
Strengths:
  • Accurate: LPD-11 Heavy Blaster pistols are exceptionally accurate weapons simply because of their ergonomics. Between a center of balance close to the rear of the weapon, a steeply angled grip which makes it naturally easy to point, low recoil of an energy weapon, and a built-in targeting laser, the LPD-11 is exceptionally easy to fire accurately at short ranges.
  • Heavy Hitting: Like all heavy blaster pistols, the LPD-11 is exceptionally heavy hitting, using mostly raw power to produce effects more similar to blaster rifles than the average blaster pistol. Taking inspiration from the legendary Millenium Falcon's cannons, the LPD-11 incorporates a splitter coupling that also makes it more effective at penetrating shielding commonly found on battle droids and elite troops.
Weaknesses:
  • Reduced Ammo Capacity: LPD-11's power is matched by its appetite to consume energy. Like many heavy blaster pistols, it needs to be reloaded far more frequently than the average blaster.
  • Short-Range: LPD-11s, like other heavy blaster pistols, focus much of their energy on power rather than bolt cohesion. Because of this, they tend to perform best at short-ranges, as their bolt cohesion degrades past around 25 meters, making them less accurate and powerful than the average blaster pistol after that.
DESCRIPTION
The LPD-11 Heavy Blaster Pistol is a fairly typical heavy blaster pistol with a few minor refinements to make it more competitive on the open market. While LPD's marketing department has heavily focused on the weapon's somewhat unusual splitter coupling design designed to allow it better pierce energy shields, most buyers are actually more impressed with the weapon's ergonomics, which makes it relatively easy to achieve exceptional accuracy with a little practice. Combined with its raw power, it sometimes referred to as a "duellist's pistol" in certain circles. These features make it fairly popular with people who want an effective back-up firearm but don't regularly hit the range a lot, such as freelance spacers, sailors, and other vehicle crewmen. While the accuracy and raw power of the weapon have made it reasonably popular, it is also relatively short-ranged and power hungry compared to most blaster pistols. If one is willing to accept those drawbacks, a holstered LPD-11 provides a fine measure of comfort and assurance.
