Ukatis
It wasn't often that Jonyna returned to Ukatis these days. She felt a connection to it, but it wasn't home. It wasn't Cathar.

But today, she felt a draw to it. The Force had mysterious ways of moving her around where she needed to be, rather than where she wanted to be. At the least, it gave an excuse to let the triplets enjoy the open fields. They needed to run at this age.

With the Mandalorian Empire at war now, she didn't trust the open fields of Cathar as much these days.

Landing the Reaper, she looked out on the fields with a smile.

It was nice to enjoy the rolling grasslands of Ukatis.

But another sight took her back.

...Taam...

Once again, Taam had returned to his Wandering. He had come out of that life once... more than once, to return to the fold. To serve under authority of a Council, of a great galactic government. Where was it now? Scattered, its shepherds fallen, his friends fallen. He had no heart to search out the remnant. He returned to what he knew. A traveling prophet of the Jedi tradition, upholding it's tenets daily in practical ways, for people who needed help, guidance, protection or justice.

Utakis had been in recovery, but they still needed help. Taam had been there only a short while. He took frequent hikes through the rolling hills and fields, satisfying that Cathar need to feel grass beneath his feet and wild breeze in his mane.

The ship appeared as it descended. A familar vessel, the sight of which forced him to hold his breath for a moment.

It was the Reaper.

The gangway lowered, and descending it was none other than Jonyna. But she was not alone. Three cubs raced down the ramp, around her feet and into the grass. Children? Hers? He had heard nothing about her since the fall of Coruscant, though he had heard that she had escaped.

Taam didn't wish to admit to himself how the rate of his heart had increased. He made his way to the Reaper, and to Jonyna.

"Hello, Jonyna. It's so good to see you."
It had been a long time. They had all gone through so much. Taam didn't hesitate to move closer and embrace the Cathar woman. He had questions, questions about the cubs. He knew it would come in time.

As the trio of chaos disappeared into the open grassland, Jonyna looked to Taam stunned.

She had left him a single transmission before she left. She couldn't risk it. She couldn't have watched another Republic fall. And yet...

Seeing him again, she couldn't utter a word. All she did was run towards him and throw her arms around him, letting out a stream of tears. She loved him still, but she knew better. She knew better than to seek him out. He was always a wanderer. He'd find her, one day. And oh how glad she was that it was today.

His embrace was fierce, one only a strong Cathar woman like Jonyna could endure. Taam held her for a long moment, nostril's flaring as he drew in her scents. Some were familiar, others were knew. Instinct told him what they were, hormones of a mother. The cubs were hers.

Taam released Jonyna and stepped back. There was no mistake, for either of them. They never stopped loving. The tumult of the galaxy in which they, and everyone they knew, had been embroiled seemed to negate any awkwardness. It was much more significant to find each other in the wake of such loss, where mutual comfort and encouragement were much needed. So many things came alive in Taam and the sight and smell of Jonyna.

The sound of the rambunctious children drew the big Cathar back to the moment. He gestured towards the trio romping in the grass. "Yours?" He asked.

Jonyna couldn't help but blush.

"...yeah. It was an accident. I don't even know who the dad is. Just the result of me...well...you know what I do for fun."
She brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear, before looking up. "How are you? Enjoying your wandering? I miss you every day..."

Taam nodded slightly. Jonyna's answer elicted a brief pang of jealousy in the big Cathar male, but he knew Jonyna. She didn't like to be alone. His eyes drifted out to the frolicking younglings, then back to their mother.

"I am alright. I'm always alright." He chuckled lightly. "I travel, usually more remote places, see what I can do to help." He sighed. "It was... a lot, losing everything. I couldn't bring myself to follow anyone after we scattered. I have kept in contact with a few who have started cells. But I have wanted to find you, after your last message. I think of you everyday."

Taam paused, his eyes fixed on his former lover's. "What have you been doing, besides...." His eyes darted out to the cubs again.

Jonyna took in a deep breath through her nose. Part of it was wanting to just have his scent again. It was intoxicating to her. But another part was trying to gather herself. She knew what came next would be rough.

"The Wild Space Rebellion. We're fighting against the Imperial Confederation right now, but the goal is..." She paused, looking up to the sky. "Total freedom of the galaxy. No tyrannical governments to rule over us, no imperials, no sith, no diarchy, no mandos...just...freedom. And heroes to keep the peace. Go back to the days of the old republic, I hope. When every planet had a say. I'd love to see the day my kids can grow up without fear." She paused, looking over to Taam. "They need a father figure, if you're up for it."

Taam had heard rumors of some group operating out of Wild Space. There had been several groups, or rumors of groups, that formed after the fall of the GA and NJO. He had no idea Jonyna was involved in the rebels in Wild Space.

A small smile touched his maw when the Cathar legend looked up to the sky, musing on her vision for the galaxy. Jonyna had always been about that dream. She fought for it in the days of the Galactic Civil War and in the present. That flame never went out, even in the dust of what they once both believed in. Jonyna needed a cause to fight for, and an oppressor to vanquish. It looked like the latest iteration of the Imperials were the target of her vindication now.

And she had more reason than ever to fight for freedom, those boisterous boys playing in the grass. In her classic direct manner, Jonyna posed an invitation. Serve as a father figure for her children. It came so sudden that the big Cathar chuffed a laugh. But he knew she was serious.

Taam had loved Jonyna, and never stopped. He looked out to her kids playing for a long moment, conteplating what she had asked. They weren't his. But they didn't have a father. Cathars were about family, conventional or not. And he had missed Jonyna deeply.

Amber eyes looked back at Jonyna, knowing the gravity of what she asked of him. "It would be an honor." He replied.
