GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Planet(s) Chosen: Lothal
  • Name of the Government: Lothal Protectorate
  • Relationship With Overlord: The Lothal Protectorate is in stark opposition to nearby political powers, primarily the Empire, though their opposition is currently that of neutrality.
  • Type of Government: Democracy
  • Symbol: (made in photoshop)

  • Role: Lothal sits on an unclaimed tile, but was recently occupied by the Empire to harvest doonium, which prompted military action by the Galactic Alliance. The Lothal Protectorate shifted it's focus in the wake of this conflict, holding distain towards both, but more primarily the Empire. It remains neutral, but still exports some doonium.
IN CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Leadership: Solarus Fynch, the acting Commander in Chief
  • Capital: Capital City, Lothal
  • Notable Assets: Assault Frigate Mark II (x2), Ugly Star Fighters (primarily Death Seeds and Y-TIEs), 4 militia companies (Alpha Company, Beta Company, Gamma Company, Delta Company), Lothal BlasTech Industries factory partnership, doonium reserves.
  • Important Members: Solarus Fynch
  • Government Stability: Medium. The Lothal Protectorate is highly defensive in nature, being formed to insulate Lothal from outside threats. This has improved the world's security, with a heavy crackdown on criminal activity. Still, pirate raids are common on the planet, and the criminal black market hasn't been fully stamped out. The feel of the state is a rural one, with low overall wealth and backwater vibes. There is an air of bitterness amongst the people, born over a past era of suffering under the thumb of oppressors hundreds of years ago in the time of the Galactic Empire.
  • Wealth: Low. The majority of their wealth comes from doonium exports, generally to galactic neighbors, as well as a BlasTech Industries factory on the planet. Aside from this, however, wealth is low, as the majority of citizens preform unskilled labor or craftwork to make a living. The wealth gap is low, with the elite of the Protectorate leagues behind what is typically thought of, save a few doonium tycoons.
  • Freedom & Oppression: The freedoms of the Protectorate are rather high, with a democratic system of election, though the Commander in Chief serves for life unless killed or deposed. Wealth doesn't bar civilians from services, and insurance is free, though limited by the planet's lower wealth.
  • Imports: [What the sector frequently buys from other sectors or governments. Common materials and ores should just be listed (Ex. Durasteel ore), while anything special or rare should be linked.] Durasteel, Ironwood, assorted Foodstuffs, starship scrap.
  • Exports: Doonium, BlasTech Industries products.
MILITARY INFORMATION
  • Military Strength Rating: Low
  • Military Force Name: Riflemen
  • Military Force: The Lothal Protectorate has a small military force with a loose, but serviceable structure. The military has no more than 1000 riflemen at a time (split up into 4 main companies), and around 100-200 active naval combatants. Military resources are highly limited. THeir navy is built around two old Assault Frigate Mark II's, which are supported by Ugly starfighters cobbled together with their limited resources.
  • Military Role: [So what role does the military, if any, play here? Is the military necessary for keeping the peace? Or is it here to train? Does the military recruit heavily from this state? Or is it just effectively a police force?] The military is a primarily defensive force, insulating Lothal from threats such as pirates and generally opposing the activity of foreign powers on their soil.
  • Military Installations: The Lothal Protectorate military operates out Capital City, within an old military academy abandoned sometime after the Battle of Yavin. As the planet is widely unsettled, the only notable facilities are a handful of local garrisons, each housing no more than 10-20 troops.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Lothal Protectorate is a young government, having only been founded in 744 ABY following the failure of a previous system. The Protectorate was a loose and largely lenient government, not doing much of note. However, following Imperial seizure of doonium production on the planet and a Cold War conflict breaking out on the planet, the Protectorate began to militarize for security under the leadership of their newly elected Commander in Chief, Solarus Fynch. The government is lead by an elected body of representatives, around 25, each of whom represent their specific sector in popular voting. The Commander in Chief acts as the advisory figurehead of this body, as well as the leader of the Protectorate's military. They serve indefinitely, until death, retirement, or deposition by popular vote brings an end to their career, and they must be 30+ years of age and have 5 years of local military service completed to be eligible for the position. The setting is loosely urban, with scatterings of more rural settlements. The population is highly diverse, though Humans, Rodians, and Gotal make up the vast majority.
