"Toll the Great Bell Once!
Pull the Lever forward to engage the
Piston and Pump...
Toll the Great Bell Twice!
With push of Button fire the Engine
And spark Turbine into life...
Toll the Great Bell Thrice!
Sing Praise to the
God of All Machines"
- excerpt from the Catechism of the Autoculus
Within Metal Lord space, Mechanicum means many things. Part Void Kingdom, part religious cult, and part emergent industrial powerhouse of the Denon system, from their industrial communes throughout the region fanatical enginseers and hierarchitects design and mass produce as a form of worship, providing goods to both mechanical kingdoms and planetary governments within their sphere of influence at exorbitant subsidies. Droid, AI, cyborg, all who seek an understanding of the Motive Force are welcomed, but the Forge-Bound are less tolerant of those among the Kingdoms of the Void unwilling to abandon the purity of secular computer logic to consider their point of view.

Starship, vehicle, weapons manufacturing, and robotics are the cultists' specialization, with plans to expand into energy harvesting once enough Forges are online. The Mechanicum is not constrained by mundane concerns but nevertheless devote themselves primarily to more practical pursuits in the interest of assisting the other Kingdoms. Forge-Bound recognize that tools are made to be used for a purpose, creation without use would bring them no closer to their Machine God.

The de facto Lord of the Mechanicum is the institution's founder and Chief Hierarchitect [member="Archim Calixis"]. While on a pilgrimage to the lost homeworld of the Sparklords, Lord Calixis claims to have touched the presence of the Motive Force and received a vision of the Maker's Will. Named for that holy planet Mechanus, it was there Archim encountered a sect of technomancers who shared his spiritual hypotheses, these tech priests now swell the Kingdom's ranks as security officers and messengers between Mechanicum Forges.
