looking into the Promenade

A sound of engines fill the air as an HWK lands in Menzenti space port. A lone man walks out, blasters at his hip and a very slight limp in his determined walk. A blade on his back reflects the light as he walks to the desk. He walks out of the space port and heads in the direction of Nar Shaddaa. Once reaching the outskirts, he asks a local for where he can find The Promenade. After being directed, he walks off with a purposeful look in his eyes. Upon reaching The Promenade, he enters a cantina and starts asking if there are any interesting jobs around.

Orn'komad sat at the bar, drinking his Corellian ale. He hadn't found any recruits on this run to the Smuggler's Moon, but he wasn't ready to leave yet.

A man entered the bar and began asking around for work. Orn'komad smiled. Perhaps this was his lucky day. He looked the man up and down, noting the muscles. He looked a bit Mandalorian - Jerrick would be disappointed - but if the man needed work, who was he to deny him?

As the other man broke off a short conservation with a Sullustan, Orn'komad approached him,a smile on his face and his hand extended. "Good evening, sir. I hear you're looking for work. Can I buy you a drink?"

"An ale would be nice, and what is your name?" You can tell a lot about a man about what he goes to when uncertain. Does he go for what he knows or what he thinks might he right? Is the person a risk-taker or will he do the extra work for fear of failure? It is always good to test people in this way in order to better understand how they think, and if you know how they think then there is no risk in your actions.

"Two more ales, sir," Orn'komad called to the bartender. He escorted the man to a booth and they both sat. "My name is Orn'komad. I work with a group called the Silent Hand. We're a criminal syndicate specializing in bounty hunting, assassination, smuggling, and the like." The drinks arrived, and Orn'komad took a deep sip from his before continuing. "You look like the sort who would do well in our organization. Pay is high - seventy five percent of every job you do goes to you, not to mention your retainer and the fact that we get paid higher than lone mercs."
He watched the man's face as he talked. Humans were always easy to read - there would have to be something there.

He takes a sip of the ale, carefully noting that it is corellian. "You seem very free with that information, say it to the wrong person and you'll be as good as dead. You're lucky I'm not the wrong person" a smirk crosses his face as he finds himself clever. "My name is jaster, and I find your offer interesting. I have one question for you before I give my answer, why is it called the Silent Hand? If I find your answer dissatisfying I will leave ." Jaster studied this twi'lek's face for anything of emotion, anything that could give him knowledge about the man sitting with him. Still unsure of how he feels about him as he sips his ale. Being sharp at a time like this is crucial, one slip and he'll show his hand. Jaster's eyes had a glint of hope when he mentioned they pay. A few jobs like that and he'll be able to line his pocket's and fill an echani's grave. Jaster instantly erased any emotion from his face but knew the twi'lek saw his eyes and liked what he knew jaster felt. Master scolded himself for slipping up like this but made sure not to shwow anything.

Orn'komad chucked internally at the man's attempt to hide his feelings, sat back and took a sip of his drink to buy himself time. He didn't actually know where the name had come from. "I think you're wrong about saying it to the wrong person," he said. "Not even most Suns would kill you just for saying you're building a syndicate." Another sip, and he was ready. "We're the Silent Hand because we are exactly that. We are the hand in the dark, the knife in the shadows, the black ship in the starless sky. No one knows where we've been, only that we've done our job." Not bad, for being made up on the spot.

"Sound interesting" a good enough name, but do they really do that? Now is not the time to question. I still need to grow my wealth so it doesn't matter. "Where am I to head next? Where am I going to see you again?"

"We have a asteroid only a few hours from here," Orn'komad explained. He slid a datapad across the table. "You'll find everything on here. And," he added, almost as an afterthought but with just enough edge to still be threatening, "it should go without saying that this 'pad will get you killed if it ends up in the wrong hands."

" I'll think about it." Saying it more uncertain about his decision then when the conversation started. " and who, pray tell, owns the wrong hands of which yo refer?"
