We've done a good bit of rework on GADF stuff and are planning some things. Tomorrow we've got a thread launching that GA soldiers can easily join. But there are always options 
EOTL is fun, so is running solo as mercenary.
I'd say look more at the theme you want to write. GA has the Republic vibes from the movies, EOTL has imperial vibes etc. All factions have RP opportunities but it's for you to decide which theme is most fitting for your character

I am thinking her character fits more GA, because she is all about taking down the Sith, defending the helpless, putting down revolts, and etc.
Mercenary is nice and all but, I picture her more as part of a cause that is for aiding the good in the galaxy.
