SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Reinforced Magazine Storage: Located throughout the Locust and more specifically where her payload is stored. You’ll find Doonium, and Turadium along with micro shield emitters to prevent sympathetic detonation.

  • Weapons Control: Given a number of torpedo tubes the Locust is equipped with, the ship has several weapons control stations. Each one controlling a limited set of tubes or cannons. Crews are trained to work together in order to lend the Locust her most effective attacks.

  • Secondary Engine Control: A secondary engine has been installed on the Locust. While PVS might be proud of the second generation CFE. FOCIE decided to add a little extra insurance to make sure the ship gets back to them.

  • Server Room: Houses the servers that the Huginn Biocomm Network (x) , as well as other security software to keep the Locust’s data secure.

  • Research Facilities: While not in combat the ship doubles as a mobile research lab with two state of the art facilities. One at the front and one near the back of the ship.

  • Engineering: Separated out into three sections, first is main engineering housing the CFE (x) units then secondary engineering housing backup engine. Lastly, repulsor controls which operate in both main and secondary engineering with its own shielded compartmentalization using the same technology as the magazine storage.

  • Bridge - Where the commanding officer and his/her crew monitor control of the vessel, getting readings, summaries and up to date notifications on the ship’s positions. The bridge also serves as the combat center where ship’s weapons and shields are fired and monitored.

  • Sickbay: A standard sickbay with the addition of a dental and counseling offices, allowing the crew time to maintain their oral and mental health.

  • Crew Club - Where officers and enlisted can come for a drink, play a few card games, listen to the scuttle butt and just relax after a hard day’s (or night’s) work.

  • Electronic Warfare CM/CCM Systems - In the new age of war, one must always be prepared for the electronic side of battle, the Locust-class comes equipped to handle such aggressions and to unleash its own barrage of electronic warfare as well. (Countermeasure / Counter-countermeasure)

  • Security/Tactical Offices - Function much like offices aboard a Vindicator-class vessel, but due to the size of the Locust the offices are often combined and are less frequent than on her sister.

  • Cargo Bay: Stores and holds cargo for the Locust.

  • Hangar: Where the three Scatha-class runabouts are housed, maintained and launched from there is a small pilots day room here as well.

  • Operations Management - Their functionality is again much like that of the Vindicator only there is only one office aboard a Locust class and it is housed a deck below the bridge. The Locust does give its quartermaster their own office as well, and they are located near the cargobay.

  • Advanced Warfare: A holotargeting system making it easier for weapon control crews to target enemy ships, stations and other units such as attack craft. The Bastion Combat System that helps the Locust against missiles, a standard IFF Confuser to buy the ship time by confusing enemy friend or foe identifiers. Sensor Jammers, and an anti-ion's emissions tracer that helps conceal ion emissions from the ship itself.

  • Standard Warship Hazard and Damage Control Systems

  • Advanced Warship Weapons Control Systems

  • Advanced Warship Sensors and Targeting Systems

  • Standard Warship Communications Systems

  • Standard Warship Environmental Control Systems

  • Standard Warship Tractor Beam

Strengths:

  • Torpedos Away: The Locust was built with one thing in mind, torpedos. Her primary combat mission is to eliminate enemy capital ships. She was built with twenty-four fixed torpedo tubes enabling her to complete this task.

  • Modularity: Her tubes are modular allowing for the Locust to carry a variety of torpedoes, depending on her mission and where she’s going.
Weaknesses:

  • Exhaust Port: The Locust has a structural weakness that can exploited by a missile or torpedo.

Hangar: A secondary structural weakness is the thin armor surrounding the hangar that can easily be destroyed or crumple into the ship itself leading to the over-stressing of the engine which can cause it to freeze or worse self-detonate.

[*]
Frozen: She has inherited the problem from her engine, in that her engines and systems could experience a freeze leaving the Locust as a sitting duck in the worst case scenarios. The engines are also susceptible to sabotage should an intruder get aboard the ship. CFE-G2MK7 (x)

  • The Crystal Fused Engine utilizes permafrost crystals as its main power source. These permafrost crystals still have a chance (due to stress on the engine itself, which then creates stress/pressure on the crystals) to completely break the crystal chamber fusion (which houses the crystals). Once the CCF is broken the crystals become unstable and can cause the engines to completely freeze over.

  • The CFE is also susceptible to sabotage by intruders or infiltrators. Intruders/infiltrators need only to stress the engine or expose the frost plasma (that runs through the engine) to create a hazardous environment/freeze ship systems completely by over powering the crystals.

[*]
Sympathetic Detonation: Even with her reinforced compartmentalization and micro shield emitters, the Locust still runs the risk of self-detonation due to the sheer amount of munitions she carries.

  • Jammed: Torpedoes can become jammed within the launcher, creating a backfire which can lead to the self-detonation of the ship.

  • Malfunctions: Torpedoes can malfunction and detonate prematurely, also causing sympathetic detonation or self-detonation.

  • Stability: Some of the warheads loaded are sensitive to touch, and electricity. Even static electricity may cause it to self-detonate, creating a chain reaction in a sympathetic detonation.

[*]
Limited Payload: Due to the sheer weight of torpedoes the Locust carries a limited number of torpedoes and once she has depleted them, the ship is then reliant on her turbolasers until she's able to resupply.

Description:
Modularity was what the First Order needed, furthermore it needed a multipurpose combat vessel. The Locust was born from this need, it was one of the first projects headed up by Fleet Admiral Fiolette Yvarro after the Galactic Alliance’s invasion of Hoth. A sleek design was drafted by Primo Victorian Shipwright engineers and within the design held twenty-four modular torpedo tubes so that the First Order could use a range of warheads depending on the mission at hand.

And the Locust marked the start of something new, the Huginn BioComm Networking becoming a standard on any new First Order vessel. Having the network installed on other vessels not only takes pressure away from the flotillas but also allows a greater range. Increasing the network’s overall efficiency to learn and adapt.

Engineers also crafted modular mine launchers on the rear of the ship so that the vessel would have some manner of protection there. In addition they thickened the armor on the back and in other critical areas. Overlapped redundant shield generators would be added as well to ensure that she’d able to handle a good fight. They also added two additional engines, a smaller-lower class secondary engine and the repulsor engines which are generally to be left offline unless there is a gravity well or another ship nearby or close enough to warrant the use of the engine.

The Locust doubles as a mobile research facility, allowing doctors, scientists and engineers to work in between stations and outposts. This increases the overall output of research among the three branches creating an increase of new data, schematics, techniques and knowledge. To this extent her hangar includes a squadron of Scatha-class runabouts to allow an ease of transporting teams to and from various hubs and locations within the First Order.

Hello, I'll be the factory judge reviewing your submission. If you have questions, please feel free to respond to this thread once we are underway.

Hi there, sorry for the wait. Please ensure that the strengths and weaknesses/special features include those from any tech linked in defenses etc (i.e. the cap drains) - this is just so that anyone, for instance, fighting the ship wouldn't have to comb through all the tech to know what it can do.

Other than that, this looks good!

Updated to have a paragraph explain some of the technology, however; the links already explain the technology.

Thank you for editing.

It can be frustrating when it appears that a Factory Judge is requesting edits on information that may seem to be duplicate. However, there is a purpose to this request. Yes, the links themselves to detail what each component does, however, for fairness and balance, it must be presented fully on the submission itself. If you are adding a component that gives a boost or a particular strength, it should be noted as a strength. The same thing goes for the weakness.

So yes, the request was made for you to elaborate on the functions of said links -- but if one wants a speedier judgement, having everything transparent in regards to strengths and weaknesses means the submission will likely go through the approval process faster. I still need to check every one of those links, but having them there from the get go gives me a clearer picture on just what I'm looking at as a whole before diving into links for balance and fairness.

Alright, good stuff. Everything's in order, but the ship's weapons and defenses are fairly thorough, so I'd like to see another weakness to balance everything out. It doesn't have to be a major weakness, just something viable that'd feasibly come into roleplay. Add that and I'll stamp this.

At this junction I feel that the weaknesses you've listed don't balance out the strengths in a sufficient manner. The main problem I see at the moment is that two of the three listed weaknesses all depend on the writer of the ship to RP them – there is nothing that the 'opponent' can do about it. From a PvP balancing standpoint, this invites powergaming. You have one 'feasible' weakness, and that's good, but next to the strengths of the ship it's not balanced, which is why I'll have to ask you to add some actionable weaknesses to offer fair opportunities to your writing partners.

Impervium is a Restricted Material. This submission is being pulled from Approval and assigned to Factory RPJ [member="Jamie Pyne"] for secondary judgement and review.

Hi [member="Fiolette Yvarro"]! I apologize that this was removed, however there are a number of issues that need to be addressed.

Fiolette Yvarro said:
Production: Minor
  • Drop this to Unique.

Fiolette Yvarro said:
Doonium/Impervium Liner w/ Duraplast
  • Remove this. Impervium is a restricted material, and even with a RM thread the highest production value allowed by the factory would be limited.

Defenses: Average
  • I don't believe based on the defenses, hull shielding, and other preventative protections that this is an accurate rating. More on this below.
This ship is outfitted with the following systems in one manner or another:
  1. Reflec (A means of passive stealth).
  2. Anti-Tractor Beam Shroud & Tractor Pressor (Two means of boarding/tractor defense).
  3. Anti-Ion Emission Tracer (A means of hyperspace stealth).
  4. Repulsor Control (A means of gravity well defense).
  5. Anti-Ion Mesh & Cap Drains (EMP and Ion protection).
  6. A full suite of tech that is capable of detecting cloaked and/or stealth ships.
  7. A full suite of tech that is capable of locking down ships.
  8. A full suite of tech that is capable of waging electronic warfare and counter warfare.
  9. A higher than average compliment of the combined armaments, defenses, speed, and maneuverability.
Furthermore:
  1. Your strengths are largely listed outside of the strengths field.

Fiolette Yvarro said:
Torpedos Away: The Locust was built with one thing in mind, torpedos.
  • This ship is capable of detecting and tracking stealth ships, while acting as a passive stealth ship itself. It is capable of deterring any boarding attempts through a variety of countermeasures. It is capable of preventing electronic warfare and hacking. It is protected from EMP and Ion strikes. It has a full array of shielding. It has anti gravity well and tractor beam measures. It has a further reinforced ablative hull. It has higher than average ratings on nearly all aspects.
  1. Your weaknesses pale in comparison to the sheer number of strengths in this submission.

Exhaust Port:
  • Based on the tech provided there is almost no logical way this could ever be achieved by anyone and is therefore, not a balanced weakness as it is currently described.

  • This weakness needs to be clearer in its' focus as to how sensitive/fragile this is. Will they detonate from a bombing run? A heavy barrage of armaments? Too rough of a hyperspace jump? It is currently too vague to have any weight as a weakness.
There needs to be a number of heavily substantial, fleshed out weaknesses to pass this at even unique, or you will need to remove a multitude of systems. As it stands, this ship is essentially a catch-all scenario vessel which is entirely unbalanced in a RP/PVP setting.
