THE FALL OF CLAN EL'DAR
Hidden within a planet of frozen wastes, deep underground, the Covert of Clan El'dar was hidden from all outsiders. Completely isolated from the rest of the galaxy, Llorum was raised from birth to honor the Resol'nare, the One and Only Way. His family would venture out from their hideaway in secrecy, working as hired guns and security consultants, and then vanish just as quickly to the fortified landing pads and sequestered compound they called home. At 21, Llorum was considered too young to work, and his family knew that telling him tales of field assignments would only make the young man impatient.

So when Clan El'dar was hired to put down a band of roving pirates, Llorum was not told afterwards just how quickly the job had gone wrong; how their enemy had been verd kyramud- trained to hunt and hate Mando'ad. When a fleet of old warships arrived above Rothana and began to bombard the underground facility the family lived in, Llorum had no idea what was happening. When cutthroats dropped in to survey the wreckage and confirm the death of every last clan member, Llorum didn't know who he was hiding from, or what they wanted.

Llorum had always been told to never contact The Enclave, even in an emergency, unless there was no one else he could turn to. The pirates had left him with no one. Llorum had used the secret beacon, and pleaded for help. And The Enclave answered. Because of Rothana's proximity to Enclave space, the pirates had been forced to make a hasty retreat, leaving the dead and their armor where they had fallen.

As thankful as Llorum remains for everything The Enclave has done for him, first joining their numbers was a true shock. To discover that not all Mando'ad lived The Way identically, that not all interpreted the Resol'nare the same, had taken some time to process. But this shock had been nothing compared to the discovery of his extended family.

Clan Eldar was very much alive and active within The Enclave, and they were not happy with Llorum's return. The family El'dar, Llorum's family, had splintered from the main clan two generations prior. Arguments over points of culture and doctrine had turned into brawls and skirmishes, until Llorum's great-grandfather had taken his family and vanished. Llorum was viewed as a brainwashed orthodox, called a Child of Deathwatch, and a coward for not dying in defense of his clan. His family's beskar'gam and weapons were taken as an inheritance by the main family. His father and mother's armor, the armor of his heritage and history, was melted down and repurposed for the use of foundlings and initiates he'd never met, distant Eldar cousins he hadn't known existed.

How the pirate army had found the El'dar's secret Rothana home was a mystery, as was the identity of the murderers. Because of this, the main Eldar family exerted pressure within the Enclave to keep Llorum away from the secret haven of Kestri, citing a security risk. He was instead taken in by the coverts of Lyran IV to complete his initiate training. Clan Eldar has made no effort to maintain contact with him.
