SPECIAL FEATURES

 • Floats on repulsorlifts to move around a ship or space station.

 • Contains a wide variety of tools to allow it to respond to any situation it might find itself in.

 • Designed to withstand high temperatures that might occur during an emergency.
Strengths:

 • The Droid’s Repulsorlift allowed it to access parts of the ship that have been damaged or would normally be inaccessible. It can float above or through flames or chemical spills to fix the issues that might be plaguing a ship. They are even able to pass into space, although without magnetic soles it needs to be careful not to be knocked off into space.

 • The right tool for the job: The Archimedes is built with a variety of tools hidden away inside its chassis, providing it with the capability to handle almost any repair job required of it.
Weaknesses:

 • Here I float: The repulsorlift, while a great tool for providing the Archimedes with an unparalleled mobility it lacks the ability to take a strong leverage against the ground to shift heavy object, having to resort to cutting them and taking a blockage apart in small pieces.

 • No combat ability: The droids have no weapons and their programming is designed to avoid military situations. While they have a high resistance to heat they lack any defences against blasters or any other weapon making them less than useless as cannon fodder.

 • Specialized: The droid is specialised, it only does one thing, repairs but has very little use other than that. It can’ be used as an astromech, it can’t be used as a protocol droid, it can’t even speak except in droid binary.

 • Power usage: The droids, while possessing an excellent on board battery, the droids do have a high power requirement to keep functioning. In the event of a total power loss on a ship, if they are unable to repair the power systems they will run out of power and drop to the floor, unable to move sooner than the ground-basedS droids would.
DESCRIPTION
With any spaceborne operation, there is always a need for repair droids, they’ve always been a key part of the droid market, and the Archimedes is Locke and Key Mechanics contribution to the marketplace. A droid that was able to be stored aboard a ship or space station, to be detailed to repair any damage suffered or to perform standard maintenance. When designing the droid the company chose to make a trade-off, choosing the fragility but adaptability of a repulsorlift droid over the standard bipedal form. The droid has four manipulator arms hanging below its body, the back two being designed for such heavy lifting and manipulation as the droid is capable of, whereas the front two arms are designed for finger work. All 4 arms have been designed with a variety of probes and tools secreted in the fingers, both for ease of use, and for ease of replacement. If a tool breaks, you just need to replace the finger rather than open the droid up to repair it as is the case with the R2 series of droids.
