- Armed with multiple blaster styled weapons, this heavy droid unit is designed for overwhelming firepower, and defence, at the cost of mobility. This droid is highly effective on the battlefield and hard to destroy given the enhanced energy shield that protects the droid from most conventional weapons and grenades.
- The two heavy cannon blasters and rapid fire slugthrowers allow this droid to fire multiple types of ammunition and even breath through some barriers with the shear force of impact from its weaponry.
- The twelve grenade launchers along its frame, whilst useless when the shield is raised, is highly effective at clearing the area around it within a 30ft radius (near 10 meters) thus making it highly anti infantry.
- Its shield generator that is amplified by a miniaturized generator core, allows this unit's shield to withstand extreme firepower before failing, proving to last longer than the older Droideka models during the Clone War Era.
- Its extremely heavy frame and complete reliance on its plating and shield generator for protection, this droid's movement is severely compromised making it slower than a mass majority of other units on a battlefield. This makes dropping them into battle, or acting as glorified turrets when in combat.
Follow the escape of Nexus 1, who found a place to hid within the depths of the Coruscant planet's layers, used the abandoned droid factory to start to design and construct various droids that would serve as its own military presence.
This variant of droid was designed in order to heavily combat grenade and ordnance usage on the battlefield. Armed with multiple weapons, hardened plating, and empowered shielding, this, whilst slow unit, is able to take down multiple squads of soldiers and troopers in seconds. Even with its armour and shielding compromised, its grenade weaponry would still prove absolutely devastating, acting similar to a self destruct program. All of this, overall, makes the LK-6 Maelstrom a true danger on the battlefield.
