Faction Life In The Fast Lane (SJO)

Okkeus was excited for this class he was teaching. Force Speed. It helps quicken your movement speed, but can also help you do certain tasks faster, such as fighting. The posters were set up, notices were sent out, now all he had to do was wait.

Pacing back and forth in the training room, he thought about his strange dreams he had been having. Ever since he first blackout he ha debentures seeing his deceased master. He wielded a red blade, trying to convince him to come back to the dark side. He thought to himself that he should seek some professional help.

Stopping at the far wall he decided to stretch out. No reason in hurting himself in his own class. Leaning from side to side he stretched both of his legs. After that his arms. A few jumping jacks and push-ups later he felt warmed-up. Now lining himself up with the back wall he took a runner's position. Charging up his legs he sprinted insanely fast to the far wall. Jumping off of the ground he sprang off the wall, doing a one hundred eighty degree spin. Now heading back to the far wall he increased his speed. After four laps he slowed down. He didn't even feel winded. A smile lined his face.

Deciding he should stretch out some more, he started relaxing the tension in his legs. No students had showed up yet, but when they do, he will make sure they stretch good as well. Wouldn't want a student getting hurt.

Caden was late.

He had been writing in his journal and lost track of the time. When he finally looked up at the clock in the corner of his room, he realized just how long he had spent writing. He had thrown the journal in his drawer, grabbed his keys and shot out of the room.

He had forgotten his cloak.

No time to care about that, at least he was wearing his robes. They were new, designed with the help of Master Damian Starchaser. He had been reassured they were lightsaber proof and would keep him on the path of the light, he was certainly a fan of them.

He ran through the corridors of the academy, darting between groups of people who very clearly weren't running very late to class. Some people had no urgency about them, preferring to take life in the slow lane. Caden wasn't one of those, he couldn't be.

He was fast enough without the usage of Force Speed. He was small and pretty nimble, and as a consequence he could carry a fair amount of speed when he broke into a run. However, when Master Dainlei had put the call out for a Force Speed class, Caden jumped at the chance.

Firstly, he'd get to see his friend again. The last time he had seen Okkeus Dainlei was on Kattada, passed out on a bed. Caden had been involved in healing the Jedi Knight, had been involved in healing his friend. He was excited to see the man standing again.

Secondly, it was a new power.

He practically fell through the doors of the classroom, out of breath and drenched in sweat. He had pretty much ran from one end of the academy to the other. It may not have seemed that long but it absolutely was, Caden was the proof, the state of him was the proof.

He needed a haircut.

He looked up at his friend, and gave such a knowing smile. He had missed the Jedi Knight greatly in the aftermath of Yurb, and getting to see him again brought such a smile to his face. Caden had a lot of respect for the young Knight, and was interested in his teaching style.

He gave the respectful bow.

"Master Dainlei"

He looked up and laughed.

"How are you Okkeus?"

Atasihd Zi was often early to rise. Today was no different.

His mornings usually constituted of a run, and then a light meal while perched somewhere to watch the sunrise, which may or may not involve climbing to get there. A climb with a little extra weight, sometimes, if he had weapons maintenance to do. Though he'd given most of his arsenal over to the Rangers upon becoming a padawan and thus leaving bounty hunting behind, there were still some items he kept to himself.

Today there was no maintenance, so after the sun was just over the horizon, he went for a quick shower and dressed himself in typical robes... far more cloth than the solitary shorts that clothed him for the morning's run. Civilisation minded anyone walking around in just a loincloth, as he'd found out at the fresh age of thirteen, having left Shili for the first time. Eleven years later had made a reasonable member of society out of him, but... well, you could take the boy out of Shili, yet you couldn't take Shili out of the boy.

So, when Caden arrived, Sid was already there, and he flashed a sharp-toothed grin at the teen, a brief pause in the forms he moved through, taught to him by another hunter that had taken him under their wing, all those years ago. 24 was still young, but he felt just a little older, in present company.

"Maybe you should join me on my morning run," he suggested with a grunt as he pushed through another form, "it will help your focus, so you are on time."

Hardly a critique, and more a genuine offer.

After engaging in some conversation with Atasihd the doors slid open. Out came running Caden. A smile started to appear across Okkeus's face. Giving a respectful now back to the boy, he answered his question.

"I am doing well. How about yourself?"

After his answer he heard Atasihd and Caden engage in some small talk. After it died out he waited for another minute or so. If anymore students wanted to show up, he will help them once they got here. Gathering their attention he began to instruct.

"Before we began to learn anything we must stretch out. It will be your body's first time going this fast, so your legs won't be used to it. Without proper stretching beforehand could lead to serious injury. So please follow what I do."

From there he leaned on his left leg, getting a deep arch. Hopefully they were following, becuase there legs are going to be very sore by the end of this lesson.

Caden listened to the offer of the Togruta.

He didn't run for fun, no matter what the Togruta assumed. He ran because he was extremely late because he decided to write. He had tried once, when he was about twelve. He had joined some of the older Master's in raising early and trying to do morning exercise.

He decided he hated it then and there.

Not that he was a late riser or anything. He looked at the clock in the room, it was about noon. He had been up about three hours or so, so he had been up fairly early. At least that was fairly early to him, he did like his sleep after all. Sleep was nice.

He turned to Okkeus.

He was glad the man was doing well. His master, that was weird to say. Okkeus had asked him to take up the role of his Padawan and Caden had accepted. He was still struggling to believe it in many ways, but obviously before they'd had chance to do any Master and Padawan adventures Yurb had happened.

Yurb had ruined things.

Okkeus was demonstrating stretches of some sort. Caden sort of half paid attention, half did the warm ups. He was half in his own head. There were a few weird events over the last few weeks and he was playing them over in his head to try and figure them out.

He looked around the room and got himself ready to run.

There were so many things that Kaia knew, and she felt for every one thing she knew, there had to be five things she didn’t. That was especially true with the Force. She was a Warden by training, a Jedi by choice. But it meant that her style of combat was much more akin to the former, and being on a starship, she didn’t need to chase anyone down, and most pirates, well, they weren’t as prepared as combatants on the field. But after the Bryn? She knew she needed to learn a few more tricks. Part of that was how to chase a foe down on the battlefield, and another was how to hopefully be faster than they were.

The Spacer arrived, with her hair up and a bit of a sheen to her skin, already been out for a run and a warm up stretch. She knew what training was like, and with who her father was, she did her best to arrive on time, and ready to begin right away.

“Hello all.” She said, in a very clipped, but her smile exposing her real feelings of her excitedness. She wasn’t out of breath, well, not more than someone should be after a quick kilometer run. She still was smiling and giving a friendly wave to those assembled.

With no more students shwoing up and starting to stretch out, he decided to get on with the class. Standing up he looked upon the group. Only three of them, but that was good. That meant he could help the, individual if they need it without holding up everyone else. Gathering their attention he began to instructed.

"Hello, and thank you all for coming to today's class on Force Speed. Just a quick heads up: you will be very sore after this class, especially if it is your first time partaking in this ability. Make sure to rest and recover afterwards, and ice any soreness you may have."

He took a breathe. Giving them a few seconds to take in what he said, a smile slow crept onto his face. This was his favorite part.

"Let's begin. Force Speed: an ability that lets you go from here..."

He quickly dashed to the left wall, almsot in the blink of an eye.

"...to there..."

Increasing his speed he ran to the right wall in merely seconds.

"...to there..."

Now he returned back to his starting position, right in the middle.

"...and back, all in a matter of seconds. But Force Speed isn't just about increasing your movement speed. It can also help increase your reaction time, speed up your hand-to-hand combat, almost 'stick' to surfaces, and many more things. But for now, we will just work on movement speed. Before we start, do anyone have any questions?"

He watched as his master demonstrated the power that he was offering to teach the group.

Force Speed sounded certainly useful, and good to know. He always thought himself as fast, but the ability to enhance that with the force was looking extremely useful. The ability to get around a room like just a blur looked certainly like a skill that would come in useful.

But that wasn't all the power and ability offered him.

It was like his master stated. Force Speed granted an increase in reaction times and fighting in hand to hand combat. In both of these, Caden was honestly lacking. He had never been a fighter, he really needed to spend some time among some fighters to get better as his hand to hand combat skills.

So anything that could increase his abilities in hand to hand fighting were positive.

He looked towards his master. The man seemed entirely confident in teaching, and he looked like his injuries from Yurb weren't causing him too much distress. Caden was happy that the healing techniques he had used on the man had been extremely productive.

"Let's run"
