Via Dolorosa
Amans In Tenebris
She looked out the side viewport of the shuttle just as the planet, Laekia, was coming into view. She had never heard of this planet until her request to be trained in both Life Sense and Truth Sense had been accepted by another Jedi Master; whom he referred to this world as home. He had given her detailed instructions on how to find him in his cottage deep in Laekia's forests before he departed a few days before her. She had to make arrangements with her Master before going, meaning she needed to complete her lessons first.
Thankfully, the shuttle dropped her off at the edge of the forest line saving her both time and the effort to speak with the locals about transportation out here. For a Jedi, her communication skills needed much work. She wasn't abrasive, or shy, or condescending; she just lacked the desire to speak to unfamiliar people. However, when she was comfortable enough around familiar people she was a chatterbox. Sometimes, it was difficult to shut her up or get a word in edge wise. To her credit, she had a magnetic personality that attracted people to her; which to their credit showed they possessed expensive patience.
"Look for a split tree just after you cross a small stream," she said speaking outloud as she read the text on the datapad left for her by Master Nytrau. "Split tree, check. From there hang a left and you will see my cottage some yards away. Hang a left, check."
CJ, grateful for her long legs that granted her the gift of long strides, moved through the forest quickly keeping her senses on high alert. She didn't know what to expect to stumble across in the forest so it was safer to error on the side of caution. Plus, a part of her had deduced that her lone trek through the unknown was some sort of unsaid test given to her by the Jedi Master. In truth, she was never going to be in danger and could handle almost anything that threw themselves at her. Almost. She was not like the other Padawans back at the temple. Her life had been, well, complicated and filled with adventure that turned her battle hardened at the ripe age of twenty-two.
She easily maneuvered through the stream, which seemed like a small river to her since the water came up just above her knees. Which at her height of 6'2" meant something about this 'stream'. Once across, she spotted the split tree and hung a left walking a few more hundred yards until she spotted the cottage. She wondered if this Jedi Master was on the fringes of living the life of a hermit. Stopping in front of the cottage's door, she raised her right balled hand, and knocked.
