The Leyte system deploys a lattice of ablative overplates combined with liquid-to-solid armor dispensers across critical hull sections. Unlike earlier Intrepid-type ablative armor, which was one-time-use only, the Leyte system is compartmentalized and modular, designed for ships expected to endure prolonged fleet battles. When activated, the Leyte system “hardens” select sectors of the hull against incoming fire, dispersing thermal and kinetic stress across layered plates until the ablatives are burned through.
The Leyte system is not meant to render a ship invincible, but to allow smaller forces to stand against overwhelming firepower long enough for the mission to succeed — whether that’s holding an interdiction line, screening a retreat, or standing in the gap for reinforcements to arrive.
- Intent: To create another layer of defense and increase the depth of the Dosuunian Commonwealth’s defense systems.

- Crystalplast Overplates
- Crystalamnium Mesh
- Canarocrite Alloy Backing
- Liquid-to-Solid Ablative Matrix
- Triaxial Stress-Sensor Nodes
- Mag-lock Plate Anchors
- Zonal Activation: Sections of the ablative overplates can be triggered independently, conserving reserves.
- Liquid-to-Solid Dispensers: Automatically regenerate limited ablative layers in combat, extending lifespan.
- Embedded Hull Sensors: Detect stress and reroute ablatives to impacted zones.
- Reinforced Impervium / Myogel Infused Layering: Absorbs concussive shock from mass drivers and heavy plasma.
- Semi-Legacy Mode: Retains a one-time “emergency full-hull hardening” sequence (a nod to the Intrepid heritage) — 30 seconds of near-invulnerability before plates shatter.
- Can absorb enormous punishment, especially from kinetic & plasma cannons.
- Extends ship’s survivability in critical fleet roles (ideal for interdiction).
- Flexibility between zonal defense or full-hull last stand deployment.
- Heavy mass penalty: reduces speed & maneuverability further.
- Finite reserves: once ablative material is spent, requires spacedock refit.
- Vulnerable to corrosive/exotic weaponry (corrosive cascade, gravitic shear, resonance weapons).
- Full-hull mode is time-limited and catastrophic: once spent, ship is exposed.
