Name: Levaine Antillia Surrel
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Age: 35 Standard Years
Height: 5'9" (1.75m)
Weight: 161 lbs (73kg)
Force-Sensitive: No

+Cyber-Enhanced: Like many members of the Guavian Death Gang, Lev has heavily modified her body with cybernetics. Protective skin grafts make her inhumanly tough even without her armor. Sensor equipment in her eyes, ears, and nose enhances her perception to incredible levels and allows her to communicate silently with her subordinates. A respirator and blood filtration system keep her safe from poison and disease and provide emergency oxygen. Subcutaneous injectors can fill her bloodstream with powerful combat adrenals when she needs a boost, and her muscles are already reinforced with terrifying strength and durability. Direct hits from ion weapons, however, can negate much of the effectiveness of such enhancements.

+Ruthless Warrior: Even without the unnaturally steady aim and targeting optics her cybernetics provide, Lev is a deadly combatant in both hand to hand and at range. She is not above any dirty trick, and has had experience in desperate, close-quarters fighting since she was a child. Although experienced with many different types of weapons, she favors knives and blaster pistols, with which she is most experienced. With a pool of decades of battles to pull from, she is a skilled tactician who can switch between careful subtlety and direct, brutal aggression on the fly if the situation demands it. She is not above falling back or even literally running away if things turn against her, and has plenty of practice at vanishing from those who would seek to hunt her.

+Underworld Expert: Lev has spent her entire life on galactic society's shadowy margins, and as a result she knows an impressive amount about crime and the underworld. Combined with her sharp business sense and complete lack of scruples, this enables her to find the best possible deals and avenues for expansion in illegal trade circles across known space. She has been to many places that renowned scouts have never heard of and bought and sold many substances law enforcement doesn't know exist, making her both incredibly wealthy and almost entirely unpredictable. Whether it's enough to keep her ahead of larger, more established syndicates, and for how long, remains to be seen.

-Scars of Battle: In the course of the many fights she's been through, Lev has taken plenty of hits. Her respirator and blood filtration system are advantages, but they're also necessary; spending too long without them would risk organ failure and the total shutdown of her body. As such, ion weapons that would simply disable the weapons and shields of most beings could, with concentrated fire, prove fatal to her by sending her life support systems into overload. Lev's severe facial and body scarring has other impacts as well; while it works effectively to strike fear into her enemies, the damage to her tissue means that she must undergo frequent medical treatments to keep her ruined flesh from degenerating any further.

-Force Dread: Lev hates and fears the Force, that wild card that makes little orphan boys into galactic heroes and alien beggars into warlords without half the work that the rest of the galaxy would have to go through to get there. She's willing to have Force-users on her side, but watches them closely; in her eyes, they're significant betrayal risks because of their unearned power. Meanwhile she does her best to keep her organization clear of direct entanglements with Jedi, Sith, and witches. She has never found a good way to fight the dizzying array of abilities they seem able to wield, and her business sense compels her to steer clear of pouring troops into fights where many will die. She has rarely fought Force-users personally, and dreads such encounters.

-Precarious Position: The Guavian Death Gang has always operated at the edges of the galactic underworld, quietly stealing opportunities from larger syndicates like the Hutts and Black Sun. That's already a dangerous position; they have at times suffered devastating reprisals. With the galaxy in utter chaos as the unstoppable One Sith war machine marches on and new political orders arise on the galactic fringe, Lev has seized the opportunity to see the Death Gang expand its operations, which carries heavy risk along with its considerable rewards. She is aware that she has made and will continue to make powerful enemies, and that her organization is not strong enough to stand against its rivals directly, but is confident of the group's ability to grow in wealth and power. Time will tell.

Lev would be an attractive woman if not for the terrible scarring that twists across her face, most of which appears to have come from knife wounds. The gentle curve of her nose stands in stark contrast to her knife-sharp jawline. Few have seen her eyes, as they are often covered by cybernetics, but they are a cold, pitiless grey, ruthlessly assessing her surroundings from beneath her thin brows. Even fewer have seen the soft curl of her lips, hidden behind her respirator. Her naturally pale complexion has been made paler still by the medical treatments that sustain her damaged flesh, and she further accentuates its pallor by wearing dark makeup around her lips and eyes. Slender and wiry, she moves with a predator's confidence.

Often engaged in dangerous situations, Lev commonly wears form-fitting armor that preserves her mobility while protecting against blades and blasters. She favors the crimson that is the Guavian Death Gang's signature color, though she often wears black and white as well to signify her distance from the organization's footsoldiers. She keeps her raven-black hair at shoulder length, tied back in a ponytail. Those who have tried to grab the braid in battle have discovered its secret: it hides a nest of needles dipped in neurotoxins, paralyzing those whose hands they pierce. Lev is skilled with a variety of weapons, but at any given time she is almost certainly carrying several knives and a heavy pistol sidearm, the weapons she most favors.

Lev came from nothing, and she has no patience or sympathy for those who act entitled. In her worldview, the galaxy is all about what you can seize with your own two hands. You're either predator or prey, and she made her choice long ago. She feels no remorse for creating addicts, capturing and breaking slaves, or murdering those who get in her way; they would do the same in her position, because life is all about looking out for number one. While Lev enjoys the fine things in life, from spice to booze to gambling to pleasurable company, she enjoys them in moderation, believing that obsession and overindulgence are weaknesses that can lead to one's rapid downfall. Her goal is to amass power, wealth, and security, as much as possible before she dies.

And she doesn't plan on dying anytime soon. Winning is a rush, and she wants to win at life.

Levaine Surrel was born on a run-down tibanna gas mining station on Bespin. Her parents were fourteen and fifteen, indentured laborers in the processing plant, and dad ran when he found out mom was pregnant. Her mother did her best to provide for her, but it was always bound to be an uphill fight. Lev grew up in squalid corporate dormitories where workers were packed twelve to a room and nutrient gruel was served twice a day, at the beginning and middle of each fourteen-hour shift. She was expected to work starting at age six, using her small fingers to separate tangled cables. It was around the same time that she became involved in the local youth gangs, stealing minor supplies to sell to scavengers for extra income.

The youth gangs often clashed violently with each other, and Lev earned her first scars from a vibroknife at age seven. Her mother was horrified, and did her best to find Lev a better way by having older miners teach her in lieu of formal school. She soon proved to be exceptionally bright, soaking up knowledge with ease, but her way out came from the original source; at the age of nine she killed two rival gang members in a fight over territory and was shipped away to an offworld juvenile prison facility. She never saw her mother again. The juvenile facility had an education program in which she quickly made up her lost progress in school. It also had brutal guards and administrators who were abusive in more ways than one. But hurt had never kept Lev down before.

Over the next several years Lev worked her way up in the facility, forming a local youth gang and stockpiling supplies for a prison break. Her sentence ended when she was eighteen, but she had no intention of waiting that long. Instead, at age fourteen, she led a prison riot, personally killing five guards before escaping. She and her gang made it to Nar Shaddaa, where they became thieves and informants on behalf of a local crime boss. As the years passed, Lev distinguished herself through ruthlessness, and went from pickpocket and spy to enforcer and assassin. By age nineteen she was one of her boss's most trusted legbreakers, and was rewarded with a starship and a smuggling contract. Finally tasting the freedom to go where she wanted, Lev thrived.

At age twenty-three, while smuggling military-grade combat adrenals, Lev ran into the Guavian Death Gang. Swayed by their promises of better pay and a higher position, she double-crossed her boss and delivered her cargo to them instead; she later returned to murder her former employer and tie up any loose ends, killing several of the people she had escaped the juvenile facility with as well. The Death Gang positioned her as a supervisor to several other smuggling crews, and she drove them hard to maintain peak effectiveness, willing to kill or maim those who tried to pocket their profits. By twenty-seven she had made the rank of underboss, supervising manufacturing and distribution for an entire sector of the gang's operations.

With each promotion, she continued to rise to the challenge. Profits rose, and the gang's reputation grew. When the One Sith took Coruscant a year later, throwing the galaxy into a tailspin of deep uncertainty, Lev took advantage of the madness to massively expand operations in her sector, making it easily the gang's biggest earner. She was able to maintain that state of affairs throughout the next seven years, and when one of the gang's main kingpins was killed in prison by a group of rivals, Lev was elevated to take his place. She soon became known as the Guavian Death Gang's most aggressive and ambitious boss, working to expand all of the organization's operations to unprecedented levels. But many whispered that sustaining them would prove more difficult...
