Public Let Me In

Ilic, New Cov
Unnamed Compound, 15:33 Local Time

The pyramid exploded without warning. She'd only picked it up for half a second, then...

Well, when Juno woke up, she was halfway across the room with a headache the size of Coruscant. Wincing, she gathered herself up and tried to come to a little more. Whatever that weird thing was, it had nearly killed her. Seemed like it'd done it's worst though. The red, plastic-y crystal structure had stopped glowing. It seemed like whatever had been in there was spent.

Juno...

"Huh?" Juno mumbled, turning around to look over her shoulder. She coulda sworn that someone... never mind. Reality was starting to set in, and Juno Cyn realised that she was currently deep in the bowels of somewhere she shouldn't be, with an incriminating pyramid thing. She let it drop to the floor with a thud, before grabbing her pack.

Juno... stop. Listen. Here.

Again, Juno turned around, getting seriously creeped out. It was like someone was whispering in her ear. She could practically feel the breath on the nape of her neck. Whatever she'd 'accidentally' broken into, it was real bad vibes there. She better get out, fast. That explosion was likely to draw attention too. She moved to the door, trying the console. It slid open and Juno snuck out into the hallway.

Juno...

Juno...

Let.

Me.

IN.

A shock of horrific pain wracked through Juno's body, making her fall to the floor. It pulsed from her head, right through the rest of her body. Breathing hard, the pain disappeared as quickly as it came, leaving her disoriented, lost and worried. Something was seriously, majorly, incredibly wrong with her.

"I'm so dead..." she whispered.

OOC: Character introduction for Juno! She has, very stupidly, stumbled upon a Sith Holocron hidden away in some compound in New Cov and decided to mess around with it. Now she's stuck with something in her head and a whole lot of trouble heading her way. Please jump in!

The last few weeks, Valery had spent more and more time on the NJO Enclave on New Cov, using its peaceful location away from the core to train or teach others. But the Temple, built deep within the jungles, needed supplies as well, and while this was typically handled by Temple staff, Valery had offered to make a trip to the Capital City herself for it because she was going to be meeting with planetary representatives that same day.

But as she walked down the streets of the city, a strange feeling struck her in the Force that sent the hairs in her neck upright. Her fiery gaze was drawn in the direction of its source, and she quickly realized it was something dark. As a former Jedi Shadow, she knew how to recognize it, and immediately began to move towards it.

If corrupted artifacts or Sith were out here causing trouble, the Jedi Enclave could be at risk.

In her woozy stupor, someone approached. She must've been out of her mind already, because she swore it was just a kid. Blinking quickly, she tried to dismiss the vision but it wouldn't go. What in the heck...

An alarm cut through the hazy silence, making Juno jump. She was instantly on her feet, shoving past the kid, just acting on instinct. Down the hallway, doors slammed open. There was the sound of heavy boots on tiles. The scraping of weapons from holsters. The yell of the guards.

"What in the- stop! STOP!"

"STOP OR WE'LL SHOOT KID!"

"Someone just shoo-"

"Grab her!"

The panic gripped Juno hard. The hallway just twisted ahead in front of her, any cover too far away to reach. She could get shot. Captured. Killed.

No.

The words echoed in her head, bounding around her skull. Whatever was in there reached down. The fear in Juno spiked hard, making her stomach twist. She turned towards the guards without thinking. Raised her hands without asking. Fingers spread without warning.

They.

Are.

Nothing.

In a flash, Juno felt a shockwave of energy and force erupt from her hands. It barrelled down the hallway towards the guards, sending them tumbling aside. Blasters dropped to the floor. Boots scraped as people fell. The sickening crack of bone against metal pierced the scene. Juno just stared at her hands.

"Holy mo... what the h..." she muttered, feeling light-headed. Something trickled gently from her nose, leaving a tiny smudge on her fingers when she felt it. Blood.

Juno dashed down the hallway with what remained of her energy, away from the carnage. Getting closer and closer to the back entrance she'd used to sneak in. Then she could go to a hospital, or a priest, or whatever the heck she needed to sort her brain out.

Another surge in the Force.

Valery felt it tremor towards her even though she was still a decent distance away. But unlike what she felt before, it wasn't as dark in nature, and there was fear as well, or perhaps severe confusion. All sorts of scenarios began to flash through her mind, but they all meant the same in the end — she had to investigate this before it was too late. Never again could she allow disaster to come to the Enclaves of the New Jedi Order.

So now, with Force-augmented speed, Valery exploded through the streets of Ilic, weaving through crowds of people until she reached the source of it all, a compound she had never seen before and didn't seem particularly interesting on the outside. But what she felt rushing towards its exit was very much intriguing.

Soon enough, the entrance blasted open, and out came a young woman, overwhelmed and exhausted but whatever happened inside of the compound made her keep running despite it all.

"Hey heyy... it's okay!" Valery called out while she tried to step in her way to intercept her. She hoped her outfit and the lightsaber on her belt gave the woman an idea as to what she was - a Jedi, so someone able to help. "What happened? Are you okay?" Her eyes shifted to the entrance again, this time to make sure nothing else followed after her.

Darth Nemris was new to the ways of the Sith. He was not lacking in ability, though there was always more skills to learn and perfect. What he lacked, in his pursuits of power and advancement in the New Sith Order, was knowledge. Ancient Sith texts, rituals of powers, and holocrons filled with the knowledge of those that came before. Each of these were pivotal in the growth of a Sith, needed for them to expand their understanding. The more sensible approach would have been for Nemris to seek out a teacher, a more experienced Sith Lord to guide him on his path. But to shackle himself to another was a flaw. Nemris would rise or die on his own.

The pursuit of this knowledge had led Nemris to New Cov. Rumors of a holocron forged by an ancient Sith had surfaced in the halls of Exegol, and while most were willing to dismiss such rumors, Nemris could not pass up the opportunity. He had departed from Maw space and made his way towards New Cov, changing ships several times so that a clear trace could not be made on him. The freighter that eventually landed on New Cov was an ancient, weathered vessel. It was barely flyable, and among the disembarking passengers, one more stranger in a black cloak blended right in.

Nemris was aware of the Jedi Conclave located on the world, though its exact location was lost to him. He did not want to draw their attention; he wanted to get in and get out with the holocron as quickly as he could. He shrouded himself in the Force, cutting off his presence from those who might be searching. He had also removed his mask and armor, leaving himself exposed to the world. His hood was pulled up far enough to cloak his face in total darkness, but it was still uncomfortable for Nemris.

The domed cities of New Cov gave Nemris a single benefit, they had a confined, limited space to them. Tracking down what he sought would still be difficult, but he could brick off the cities and search in a more efficient manner. He was just about to begin his first search when a burst of Dark Side energy, and subsequent loud sounds drew Nemris's attention. He looked up towards the direction of the Dark Side presence, the shadows of his cloak shifted briefly revealing a scarred face and tattoos around his neck. Perhaps the Force was in his favor today?

Setting out in the direction of the presence, while many others were moving quickly in the opposite direction, Nemris began to slowly open himself up to the Force, probing towards the Dark Side entity that he had felt. Perhaps they were the owner of the holocron he had come to seek, or another searcher for the relic. Either way, Nemris would speak with them before he moved any further.

Breaking out of the compound, she ran into glorious, dome-filtered sunlight. Someone called out to her, blurry in her exhausted vision. The words filtered in without much thought but the woman's voice was cool, calm and caring. Juno saw a flash of something on her hip. A lightsaber. A Jedi.

They could help. They did crazy stuff with their heads, right? Maybe she'd know what was happening.

"There was.... there's a.... in my head and... there's..." Juno garbled, trying to force out a hundred words all at once. "It's speaking and it keeps... it keeps..."

The words died in her throat as she felt another stab of pain. Whatever was churning in her head, whatever presence was in there had realised exactly who she was talking to. Or, to be more specific, exactly what she was. The presence of a Jedi made it recoil, coiling deep in the recesses of Juno's mind. It dug in; claws of darkness piercing in her head.

"It's... scared," Juno mumbled, the angry and instinctual fear from the presence mixing with her own confusion and exhaustion. It did not last for long. It came alive again as it felt the cloying touch of something else, something dark. A gentle probe, but laced with that all-too-familiar tinge. The presence reached out, roaring to life inside Juno's head, letting out a pulse in the Force towards whatever, or whoever, had started looking.

Yes. Yes. Here. Find me. Find the girl. She knows.

Visions of the holocron, locked and spent on the floor, would flash along with the words. Scattershot flashes of an ancient life. Of coiled, twisted statues dedicated to long-forgetting, ever-thirsting Dark Lords. A circle of ritual. A flash of a knife. A promise of power.

"Help..." Juno whispered as her knees gave way and she fell to the ground. The door to the compound slammed open immediately afterwards. Two smugglers, with irritated looks and heavy blaster pistols raised, stared at the Jedi. Then the girl. Then the Jedi again. Sizing up their options as their fingers rested on the triggers.

After making it out, Juno seemed to quickly realize that Valery was a Jedi despite being overwhelmed by whatever had happened inside, and stopped to try and explain her situation. She rambled, trying to find the words to cover it all quickly, but as Valery focused on the young girl, she could already feel the source of all this evil — something dark lingered deep within, and while she was likely able to help with it, this was not the right place or time.

"It's alright, I'm going to help you," she said, hoping it would help calm Juno down. But as another ripple in the Dark Side marked the presence of another being, that of Darth Nemris Darth Nemris , something seemed to surge within her. Juno lost all her strength instantly and crumbled down to the ground, right as the doors of the facility were flung wide open, and a pair of blasters were aimed in their direction.

"You don't want to do this," Valery assured them as she crouched down and used her strength to lift the girl up and over her shoulder. With her free hand, she removed her lightsaber from her belt and ignited the violet blade, which seemed to startle the two smugglers. If they were so foolish as to engage her, they'd stand no chance. "I'm not running, and there's no need to fight them either," Valery then told TJ The Star Warrior TJ The Star Warrior , who seemed a little too eager to fight a pair of untrained thugs with blasters.

"I'm taking her with me so she can get help," she said before she turned her eyes to Juno, "I'll take you somewhere safe, and I promise I'll help you."
