- Accurate- The single action firing mechanism, when combined with the precision internals, roller trigger, and the infrared laser sight, make for an extremely accurate revolver within its effective range.
- Stopping Power- The .454 Casull is a manstopper, capable of delivering tremendous kinetic energy loads to a target, even if the target is wearing armor. If a kiss from one of these bad boys doesn't kill it, it'll probably wish it was dead. And if that's not enough, the 16 gauge shotgun barrel is on standby, ready to deliver a load of buckshot.
- StabiliGat™ Integration- Use of the Stabiligat™ module reduces recoil considerably, giving the shooter a weapon that's quite forgiving, even under the most stressful of circumstances.
- Heavy- Though slightly lighter than the LeMat mod 1, the mod 2 variant still weighs considerably more than the average pistol. Thus, it doesn't lend itself to the lightning quick handling afforded smaller, lighter pistols.
- Needs More Energy- The StabiliGat™ module requires regular charging to be effective. Failure to follow manufacturer recommendations will result in damage or destruction of the module.
- Armor- Despite the heavy round, it's not well suited to penetrating armor. Though it can still potentially cause blunt force trauma by beating the target with the plate, it's probably not going to punch through.
- Rate of Fire- The single action firing mechanism, while precise, requires the weapon to be manually cocked for each shot. Also, to engage the shotgun barrel, one must manually lower the striker into position, something that's not easily accomplished under fire.
- Slow to Reload- Though use of speedloaders can hurry things along, the LeMat mod 2 isn't a weapon that can be reloaded quickly. Careful planning is required if one wishes to do so on the battlefield.
The LeMat mod 2 is the next evolution of the LeMat series of testbed weapons. It's a custom piece, tailored for [member="Aver Brand"]. It is still, at its core, a single action revolver, but with greater stopping power and a slightly lower ammunition capacity than the previous model. To fire, one cocks back the hammer, then squeezes the trigger. The hammer must be manually cocked for each shot. To engage the shotgun barrel, the striker must be lowered manually. When the trigger is squeezed, the striker hits a firing pin, which engages the primer on the shotgun shell.
The internals have been reworked, making the action smoother and lighter, and the introduction of the rolling trigger reduces errors in accuracy caused by hasty trigger squeeze. Despite the weapon's modifications, it's still fairly old and ragged looking, a sure sign of hard use. With any luck, it'll still be in use for many years to come.
