STRENGTHS

Salon Pod - Maintaining the design and aesthetic of previous iterations, the Legation-class is also equipped with a Salon Pod that can be modified to fulfill a myriad of roles and situations as demanded. These salon pods are also more heavily defended and protected than the rest of the vessel, containing sensors, life support equipment, and powerful engines as the pod can also be utilized as an escape pod.

Starfighter Support - Unlike its predecessors, these vessels contain the ability to house, support, and launch a single starfighter or bomber squadron which is often utilized to provide additional defensive coverage or act as an escort.

Nimble - Designed with a focus on speed and maneuverability, these vessels are known to be capable of reaching high rates of acceleration at sublight and are considerably more nimble than similarly sized vessels.

WEAKNESSES

Limited Firepower - The Legation-class is first and foremost, a Diplomatic Vessel. Though capable of carrying a singular starfighter or bomber squadron, many of its heavier armaments have either been removed or were not installed due to the intended use of the vessel as a Mobile Diplomatic Starship.

Minimal Defenses - As these vessels were designed with a focus on speed and maneuverability, they are considerably lightly armored as many of the heavier armor platings have been removed in favor of more powerful engines.

Aft Coverage - Though equipped with a handful of armaments, these weapons are known to have limited coverage, facing either directly forward, or limited coverage to the port, starboard, ventral, and dorsal sectors. This means that the vessel contains limited coverage toward the aft, making attacks from the rear more likely.

DESCRIPTION

There is an ancient saying from a long since forgotten people that says one should speak softly and carry a big stick, and they would go far. The Legation-class Light Cruiser was designed around this ancient saying, developed and produced at a time when the Galaxy has fallen into even greater Chaos due to the recent Galactic Convergence. Whereas the Amidala-class utilized by the Federal Assembly is unarmed and focuses solely on Diplomacy, the Legation-class maintains a limited arsenal of armaments, however, they are still considerably lightly armed. Where the vessel truly shines is in both its modularity as well as its capability to carry a singular squadron of Starfighters or Bombers. This capability provides the means for the vessel to overcome one of its primary drawbacks, specifically its lighter armor by being able to launch an escort squadron. However, the room required to maintain and house such a squadron has resulted in limited armaments which have been reduced to light variants or removed entirely. However, the greatest strength of the Legation-class comes from its highly modular Salon Pod, a design feature that was carried over from its predecessors. This Salon Pod can be modified in a myriad of ways, allowing the vessel's role and profile to be altered to suit the current needs required. As such, the vessel also has the potential to serve as a troop transport, command ship for a smaller formation, or be equipped with additional armaments depending on the modification installed. Additionally, as the vessel was originally intended to be utilized as a Diplomatic Vessel, its design focused more on speed and maneuverability, and the Legation-class is known to be capable of reaching higher rates of acceleration at sublight speeds than similarly sized vessels. This ensures that it can easily outrun a fight or trouble rather than risk the potential of losing its cargo or passengers. As the turmoil of the Galaxy continues to grow, the need to reach out to the current members of the Alliance as well as reach out to those neighboring systems on the fringe has become paramount. The Legation-class, coupled with the Amidala-class forms the corps of any Diplomatic Fleet launched by the Alliance. Though its lighter armaments and defensive capabilities mean that the vessel won't be utilized in any main-line confrontation, its speed, maneuverability, and modularity make it a tantalizing option for Senators, Diplomats, and even Jedi for transports.
