Dominique Vexx
High Republic Chancellor
Dominique looked over at Blaire for a moment. Aiden and Corazona were soon by her side as they sought to calm the distraught woman. With the guards occupied with the perimeter, the Chancellor took the opportunity to simply study the surround. The covered body. The fallen assassin. The survivors. The area around them as they stood out in the open with the rain falling on them. Dangerous circumstances. They were exposed.
The circumstances made no sense. There had been more than ample time for the Pantoran to kill the Imperial Senator before they arrived on Naboo. No doubt more than enough confusion aboard the ship in its descent to the planet. Even a delay after they'd set foot on the world before the trigger was pulled. And no words shouted in testament of why or wherefore it had happened. What was the point? Where was the message? It couldn't be a threat. After what the Senate had endured this sort of threat was well understood already. Merely a cruel way to let the man think he'd gotten away?
Speculation would have to wait. "Bastila." Dominique turned to look over at the woman. Her eyes narrowed for a split second. "Bastila," she said more firmly as she stepped a little closer. "Deactivate the saber, Bastila. There's no need to detain you at this time, but deactivate the saber." The Jedi could sense a threat Dominique wasn't aware of and was standing guard. That was a possibility. The Chancellor had seen that look in peoples' eyes before, however. Shock.
Events would be examined again later from every angle available. Statements taken. Dominique had been there -- albeit far too distant to be of any help -- and witnessed what she believed occurred. Nothing suggested Bastila needed to be arrested; though she would be asked not to leave Naboo while the initial review was conducted. A very brief stay.
Were the investigation so brief. Dominique expected examination of the assassin would take some time. The circumstances did not sit well with her.
Once Blaire was calmer, they would need to get her indoors. Bastila as well. Better neither linger around the dead any longer than they had to.
