OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Intent: TransGalMeg Inc.'s restart in the mining business; mining material is better than buying.

SETTING INFORMATION
Mine Name: Lathuraud Gautha
Material: Durasteel, various starship metals
Location: The Coins of Gautha
Affiliation: TransGalMeg Industries, Incorporated
Size: Medium
Accessibility: This facility is found one of many asteroids in the Coins field. While not explicitly hidden, it may not be the simplest facility to find especially if the mining vessels themselves are not active.
Security: Very minor. Single point of ingress/egress, outer shell of the place is rock and remnants of metal ore. Transports at the facility may or may not be armed (differs for each transport currently present). Hangar entrance is equipped with civilian-grade deflector shields.
Description: This is what is hoped to be the first of many mining facilities owned and operated by TransGalMeg Industries. This particular facility was built into an asteroid that had been mined sometime in the far past, making use of the efforts from the past and expanding to fit current needs. Most of the work is automated or performed by droids, resulting in only a limited number of living beings in full-time residency.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Like most asteroid fields, the Coins of Gautha field has existed for a very long time. At some point in the past, another company had tapped the particular rock that TransGalMeg chose to build the facility into, leaving tunnels and a few larger caverns already in place. Scientific investigation could have provided the age of the specific rock and the field in general, or historical records - those that survived the 400 year darkness - could potentially have provided the name of the company that had come through before. It didn't much matter though; there were no current claims and preliminary surveys indicated the field still held ore.
POINTS OF INTEREST

Hangar

The hangar is the main focus of the facility. Mining vessels are launched from here and return with raw ore, and transports take the ore away. Everything moves through the hangar. It can be chaotic at times as a result, but it is always organized. A large blast door allows the hangar to be sealed, but this is typically left open and a magcon field retains the atmosphere. This area is overseen by a control room as well as by the central Command Center for the facility and is the only area equipped with deflector shields.

Refinery
Raw ore is transported here for refining. What comes in as intermixed metals and rock is separated and refined through a variety of processes. Ore that can be used is separated into transportable ingots while the waste - typically just various types of rock - is periodically ejected into space headed for the nearest star. This is by far the hottest area in the facility; the waste heat is used to regulate the temperature of much of the rest of the facility.

Command Center

The nerve center of the facility. Buried near the center of the asteroid, all communication and information flows through here. Real-time locations on mining vessels, transports, the state of ores, state of the facility itself...anything and everything can be accessed from here. While many systems are automated, this is where the living beings oversee their domain.

Engineering
The more automated a system is, the more likely it is to break. At least, that's what it seems like. With the degree of automation at this facility, it should be no surprise that engineering has such a prominent presence. Most of the living beings present have at least some experience with engineering and repairs, and it wouldn't be much of a stretch to call the engineering specialists 'wizards' in their own right. These engineers tend to have very little formal training however, which oftentimes means their fixes and improvements don't quite fit with the manual.

Med Bay

Even with a limited living crew, accidents happen. Though the med bay is fairly standard, the three extra bacta tanks can go a long way toward preventing needless casualties and healing injuries. Given the nature of the work however, the most common injuries are crush, burn, and respiratory in nature, so the bulk of equipment is focused around those areas. Of course, the medical professional(s) are also trained psychologists; long stints in the black with a limited amount of people to interact with can be challenging.
