En Route to Mimban

A trip around the galaxy wasn't something that he had in mind. Given what he needed to do it, it was expected. He shouldn't have been complaining so much given the considerable amount of time the man stayed in space avoiding the many problems that plagued the galaxy. He wasn't the one to fix them all, however as he spent time with Katrine Van-Derveld Katrine Van-Derveld learning of her daughter and discovering how much he missed her. It replaced a piece of him that he thought was long gone. As much as he pushed the emotions deep down he knew that much of his behavior stemmed from the event on Hapes and the actions of himself and someone whom he thought he loved.

***********

Years ago Aston attended a masquerade ball on Hapes in the hopes of uncovering a small slave ring that was troubling Hapes. Aston at that point in time was all about doing the right thing and was still on the Jedi path. He was dressed rather comfortably as well as he could be given the circumstances. He didn't want to arouse suspicion or give away that he had one of his contacts doctor the invitation list. It was at this invitation that he was swarmed into the Hapan society. He wasn't quite ready for it, the glamour and the well he didn't want to say beauty but it was. It was something that he was told about but he had to see it for himself. He severely under dressed, given that he was wearing at tuxedo suit. It still wasn't enough or so he thought.

"Drink?"

Aston glanced over as he was too distracted watching everyone else he was unaware of what was going on in close proximity. "Thanks." Aston curtly grabbed the glass and took a small drink.

"Wow....That's terrible." Aston said with a small face of disgust and shook his head placing it back on the tray.

"You should try the this, its the signature drink here." A voice called out from behind him and he turned slowly and there before him was the girl that was going to turn his world inside out.

"Liana Whitesun." The girl spoke boldly. "Your not of the Hapan culture are you?" The woman said as she stood up and neared him, offering him a drink from the tray that another server had come by with.

"Assuming much, aren't you?" Aston replied easily enough as he accepted the drink and nodded his head with a smile. "Aston Jacobs, it's a pleasure Liana. Do you have any company for the evening?"

She stared at him rather coldly at first, but then that feeling seemed to wash away as she finally smirked.

"I do now."

It was clear there was an attraction between the two. Aston being a guy wasn't afraid of some interaction from the opposite sex during this venture. And the company would've been very nice given that he was here for a purpose and not to be playing around with the Hapan society for pleasure. But there was some time to kill before the main event dropped.

*******

Aston stirred slightly as he glanced around the confines of the ship that he had requisitioned for this venture. He wasn't sure if the stratosphere of the planet still suffered for it's energy storms that lit up the upper portion of Mimban. Aston rubbed his face slightly and a hand rested on his chin for a moment as the ship shot out of hyperspace and was hurtling towards the planet. A Kaiburr crystal was what he was after, he was alerted that a cave was unearthed from the earth of Mimban and there was a collection of crystals that were littered within the cave. He hoped to beat whoever else was interested in this cavern. Granted the only thing that aided him was the fact that this planet was under the control of the Silvers. However he wasn't an ally or much acquainted with the silvers. The ship shuddered slightly and Aston responded as he strapped himself in the pilots seat more securely as the ship entered the upper atmosphere. Flashes of light lit up the plane and he let out a small troubled sigh.

Aston held the controls of the vessel as securely as he possible could. He just needed to get through the storm and from there he was home clear. He knew the journey to the Kaiburr crystal wasn't going to be an easy one, but it was necessary for the next part of his evolution if that was something to be said. His focus had been more clearer than it had in the years past. He knew it was his meeting with Katrine that had changed everything for him. Too much he was missing and he couldn't do it anymore. He finally made it through the storm as he communicated with the locals as to where they cavern was unearthed. The ship touched down in the local hangar establish by the Silver Jedi order, from then he would make the mile trek through the forest to get to the site.

As his ship touched down and he embarked with his bag and what light material clothing he was wearing due to the humid and wet weather of the planet.

"Jacobs, I assume." Aston looked up as he was greeted by some Silver Jedi troopers. "That would be correct. Is there a problem."

"No sir, just that a big rainstorm has just started and is expected to carry through over the next several hours or so. So we advise caution when heading to Mineral Camp number twelve."

"Perfect."

*************

Words were exchanged and before long the two were engaged in a dance upon the floor. Thankfully it was something that Aston was decently versed in, and even though it was decent. He seemed to play it off rather well if he happened upon a mistake.

"You move pretty well on your feet Mister Jacobs."

"Well thanks, your doing pretty good yourself." Aston chuckled as the music that was lively and fast paced turned to something that more slow and almost personal.

"So, your a member of a Royal house. Seen your fare share of the dangerous things on your ventures as a Diplomat. What do you do when your not working."

She smiled blissfully and shook her head. "I love this life, but If I could get away for a small amount of time I would leave in a heartbeat."

**************

One of the the things that ever brought Aston a semblance of peace when not with those that he cared about. That was running, especially running when there was a storm. He remembered times on Dathomir that he whisked himself away into the forest especially on nights of rain and thunder. There was something about running with only the clap and strike of the thunder and lightning that made almost every worry he ever had go away. And the fact that this was going on right now was amazing.

Or it could've been just mere coincidence....

The cloak he wore did its job for the most part. However it wasn't before long that Aston cast it aside as he ripped his way through the forest. There was no force powers being utizlied here as he sped through the forest. Just his own agility and stamina that kept him going throughout the cool rain. However cold the rain was, it was still slightly humid but it didn't affect the man as much as it would any other person. That was his lifestyle though, this was what life was to him. He pondered things in his life as beads of water rolled down his face and arms.

He could see a trail of lights that was his destination as he slowed his run down to a jog and then his pace decresed to a walk as he began his enterance to the Mineral camp that was erected just outside of the caverns.

"You are Aston Jacobs correct? We've been expecting you." An individual called out who seemed to be one of the heads of the camp. He was rather worn scout clothing and had the look of someone who never left the outer rim. How he came about to be here was something that was intriguing to him. Then again looks could be decieving.

"That is me." Aston responded with a quick nod of his head as he gave a polite wave of his hand. "What's been going on here?"

The scout beckoned him inside the large tent as there were several small beds and a large table in the center that was showing a holographic map of sorts. Aston could only assume was a the caverns.

"My men were only able to get as far as here and at this juncture there were some crystals that I know from my experience are something you force users, utilize for you weapons. However I also have been around the galaxy a time or two and it seems there are some well...dark manifestations there."

Aston brow furrowed as he crossed his arms and looked to the scout. "Dark manifestations? Like what a presence, creatures?"

"They didn't see anything physically, but they felt something uneasines, something that made them feel very uneasy. So if you intend to go down there, please be careful."

Aston raised his hand to his bearded chin and nodded his head. "Thanks for the warning."

Aston had his brush with the darkside before, if this was even that. It could be just something else entirely and the miners were just letting these cavern digs get to their heads. Nevertheless, he felt it best to take extra precaution when it came to these things. The darkside of the force was a path that he honestly didn't want to have ever dominate his future. Despite his brushes with it during his lifetime. He knew members of his family had their own instances with the darkside and it was just something that was always a wildcard.
