Capable pilot: While never the best in his squadron, self-respect drove him to being more than competent.

Lancel Atria is a stereotype. The entitled rich-kid who skated his way through military school and obtained a rank he never earned. He craves that which is not his, until it is in his hands and then despises that for which he longed. He is the very opposite of shy, taking to conversation and social settings with all his vigour. He is self-assured on the surface, though when he allows himself rare moments with his own thoughts, Lancel asks a very simple question: "What am I good for?"

BIOGRAPHY

Born to a wealthy noble family, and owners of the Atria business empire, Lancel has never known want or need, save for the legitimate affection of his parents. Raised by nursemaids, then handmaids, he saw his parents only when he needed to be present to impress guests, and visiting dignitaries. His was a life of being seen, not heard.

His youth changed all of this. Lancel became boisterous, overtly disruptive, and problematic in the house. Fearing a child that might die young, or bring shame through lasciviousness or corruption, his parents saw him registered with the Aurodium Finishing School. Here, Lancel rebelled still the more, but met the rebuttal of stiff and unyielding teachers that taught him to tame his most basest of impulses.

Weeks before graduating from the Finishing School, and with a trajectory into the Officer's College for the family-owned militia, Lancel's brother encountered a crashed vessel while he was about on a hunting trip on the family estate. The occupant of the ship, auburn of hair and gold of skin, was rescued that day by the elder brother. Both brothers were smitten. Only for Lancel to find that his brother had intentions towards marrying her.

Lancel put the woman behind him, understanding his place and his brother's ability to choose who he wished for his bride. The heartbroken younger brother avoided her, and his brother, until he arrived at the Aurodium College...to find she had enlisted in the Aurodium Guard, having preferred to earn her way in life.

Throughout his college years, Lancel maintained his distance emotionally from his gold-skinned infatuation, even though she was under his command. He graduated, as her commanding officer, and began his first tour of duty. He expected she would follow. That they would serve together. A possible future with her seemed possible. Only for her to accept his brother's proposal, and damn Lancel to a life on the sidelines of his brother's happiness.

Ever the kind hearted sort, his brother Faustus arranged for Lancel to be married. An advantageous arrangement for certain. Marriage to a princess was never something to scoff, unless you were one Lancel Atria. He tried desperately to convince Faustus to recant on the decision, but the oaths had been made, the union would be final, and Lancel would marry the princess. His brother happily declared that then Lancel could be as happy as he.

Everything changed the day Faustus died...
