Laguz Vald
Adapt or perish
NAME: Laguz Vald
KNOWN ALIAS: Karin Reed, Dea Nierak, Velle Wesz
FACTION: Freelancer | Saeva Inc.
RANK: Exemplar
SPECIES: Shi'ido
AGE: 252
SEX: Depends
SEXUALITY: Pansexual
HEIGHT: Depends
WEIGHT: Depends
EYES: Depends
HAIR: Depends
SKIN: Depends
FORCE SENSITIVE: Force dead (infected with Pazhkic'Dau)
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
[+] Sir Morph-a-lot; Xir greatest strength is the ability to manipulate xir body to imitate other life-forms and objects
[+] Mindkark; Just like other members of xir species, Laguz supplements the physical illusion with subtle telepathy
[+] Deadshot; Xe is an accomplished user of firearms and ranged weaponry; this is especially pronounced in xir expert handling of sniper rifles
[–] Chameleon Curse; What makes you 'you', when 'you' can be anything?
[–] Overdose; If xe morphs too much, too fast, xir muscles are bound to stretch and give up like any other
[–] Boredom Basher; Slow-paced operations bore xem to death. If not entertained, Laguz is bound to do something reckless and compromising.
The only exceptions are sniper camps. Xe's capable of waiting hours on end for that one perfect shot.
APPEARANCE
The body Laguz was born with is that of a typical Shi'ido, unassuming and — quite frankly — not particularly appealing to the eye. Luckily for xem, xe is one of the few to be afforded a second chance and correct the mistakes of a Mother Nature on a drunken bender. Instead of being stuck in the white, puny form for the rest of xir considerably lengthy life, Laguz started experimenting with shapeshifting even before xe could talk. Both talent and dedication had the grown up Laguz shedding xir second skins faster than humans would change socks, but despite all of the years xe had spent exploring the Galaxy, xe has yet to find one that would fit xem like a glove.

BIOGRAPHY
622 ABY - The Unknown Regions
On a planet forgotten even in halcyon times of the New Republic, a new life came kicking and crying into the world. Even this early, Laguz was already full of willfulness and vigor, growing into it even more through xir childhood. Being a Shi'ido, the powers of shapeshifting xe manifested weren't anything special in and of themselves, but with the passing of time it became apparent that the child possessed an unique determination that set xem apart from xir peers. Laguz practiced day in day out, going farther and farther despite the warnings of his family; the thirst for knowledge, for that intricate understanding of another being had become too great in the adolescent Shi'ido. The catalyst for xir departure was Laguz's attempt to impersonate the port guards and sneak off-world in spite of the blockade in place because of the Gulag plague, and, more importantly, the unknown status thereof.
It was then that xir family recognized that xe nothing short of leaving would appease the young Shi'ido, bidding their curious adventurous offspring goodbye as xe set out to discover what lay beyond the limits of the Sh'shuun solar system.
789 ABY - The Known Galaxy
More than a hundred years had passed and Laguz was still searching for xir perfect form. Upon xir arrival the Shi'ido was surprised to find the supposedly bustling Galaxy almost as dead as the regions xe hailed from. Perhaps even more so, for the hearts of generations raised in fear of the Gulag plague had been hardened by that ever-present terror, causing many of them to shoot down the hopeful explorer; whether it was a mental or physical attempt largely depended on luck, rather than anything else.
Laguz could understand their fright, though, and with time xe stopped contacting species on their isolated homeworlds, diverting xir attention to other, less sentient life-forms. Perhaps, xe thought, he could find xir final skin among the beasts.
830 ABY - Life Returns
By then the Shi'ido had skinchanged into so many others that the memory of what, of who xe had been at birth had begun to fade. Two centuries had gone by without laying xir eyes upon the form of xir own species that Laguz had a hard time remembering the pallor of xir flesh and the blackness of xir eyes, much less the faces of his family. It didn't hurt as much as xe expected it to, however, for the distance between the Shi'ido xe used to be and the Laguz xe was now had only grown with every new discovery.
When the rest of the Galaxy finally woke from its four-hundred-year slumber, a lone Shi'ido stood watching in the shadows of the backstage, eager for an opportunity to taste more species. Xir hunt was far from over.
