La Guilde des Assassins du St. Jacen

The Honour

"Terribilis est locus iste"
Corporation Name: La Guilde des Assassins du St. Jacen
Headquarters: St. Jacen Cathedral, Arcadia, Carnovia
Locations: There is also a liaison office amidst the labyrinthine cities of Riileb
Operations: The guild deals chiefly in killing-for-hire. They also act as a representative on behalf of the Carnovian fishing industry (which rarely to never deals outside of the sector).
Rationale: L’Honneur du Guilde des Assassins does not own this company, but, through his devotion, accumulation of accolades, and general competence, he has been appointed as a representative of the person who does.
Tier: 2

Description: Once a militiagung unit of religious warriors, it evolved into an Assassin’s Guild after years of Riileb cultural influence and performing mercenary work rife with political intrigue. As the guild developed into greater professionals and warmed to the idea of being paid to do the dirty work of others, their services would be made better available to those visiting Riileb and Carnovia, or those who managed to get a message out from abroad. They would also serve as negotiators on behalf of the fishers’ union.

The guild’s services focus traditionally in stealthy assassination or guerrilla warfare conducted with small unit tactics. They have been known to offer bodyguard services from time-to-time, but direct objectives with clear definitions of success are preferred.

The Guild operates in neutrality, not interested in pondering the morality of every contract. They will often do pro bono work for the Black Sun, but that is more out of a duty to personal security. In the end, only Carnovia’s (and maybe Riileb’s) safety matters to the Guild. The guild can be reached upon either of the two aforementioned planets. A contract will be agreed upon and a binding rite will be performed.

As the Guild sprang from a misconstrued Jedi church, its hierarchy still maintains some of the structure. At the top is the Consular. He leads the mass and does all the spiritual guidance for the people of Arcadia. It is frequent that the Consular actually heads the Assassin’s Guild.

Next are the Sentinels, who deal in confession, do lesser sermons, and act as middle-management between the common people of Arcadia and the church/guild.

There is no “civilian” Guardian, but it is widely-recognized, though not discussed, that the Assassins fulfill that role.

Each of the guild’s assassins comes trained in the Star Wars equivalent of Bojitsu, present from the Gungan influence and the city’s longtime use of the booma-launching cesta. Savate is also not uncommon, utilizing the powerful swimmer’s legs of the Kah-jeen. They maintain much of the traditional Gungan hydrostatic weaponry, albeit more compact versions for their more surgical strikes. For example, the bubble shields are worn on the forearms as a smaller buckler; the hydro-static energy shields are no longer carried by mighty beasts, but come in wearable backpack form for notably smaller units.

The assassins have experience battling Force-Users. That said, their equipment is not Force nor Lightsaber resistant. Because of this, they remain evasive and, when blocking, swing their cesta to catch the hand or hilt.

Though the assassins of this particular order often come off as incoherent bumpkins due to their accents and lifestyle, thanks to the Riileb influence, they are actually very streetwise and socially intelligent. They are skilled lie detectors and diplomats, particularly when they actually have a Riileb in their company.

Accustomed to Riileb and Carnovia, they particularly excel in humid climates, a force to be reckoned in swamps and jungle where the non-acclimated would really feel the heat. With swimming being a mandatory skill for their world, they also hold the unusual distinction of quite likely being unparalleled underwater assassins. They are also quite well-versed in dense urban environments, as well.
