Description:

The Harvester-class Mobile Mining Facility was designed to bring the efficiency of a Concordance-class Mining Barge to planets that outlaw the use of planet-cracking techniques. This massive mining and smelting facility is intended to be deployed on a planet in 15 massive parts and assembled on site. Once assembled and operational, the facility activates its powerful scanners and begins to move itself towards the nearest source of valuable ore.

Once an ore vein is located, the Harvester will position itself so the 'chest' section of its arachnid-shaped body is directly over the vein. The Harvester will then brace and anchor each of its six massive legs and numerous armored blast doors will open on the outer 'shin' of each leg as well as on the 'back' of the Harvester's 'Thorax' section. Once the external components are exposed, a powerful shield activates that extends from the outer-most edge of the legs and forms a complete half-sphere around the Harvester. The shield is similar in design and function to an HAS Military Shield System, but is specialized to keep out environmental hazards. Everything from the poisoned gasses of a toxic world to catastrophic storms, tsunami waves, volcanic ash, volcanic magma bombs, severe electrical discharges, sandstorms, acid raid, and light meteor showers can be shrugged off by the shield for as many weeks or months as the Harvester remains stationary over its intended mining site.

Once the Harvester has anchored itself and deployed its shield numerous blast doors and armored plates slide away as various ramps and hangers open and hundreds of droid and workers prepare themselves for the coming operation. One such newly exposed section is stylized to look like a spiders 'mouth' and contains a massive drilling laser assemblage. Flanking this section is ring after ring of light tractor beam projectors. Once prepared to begin the mining operation, the Harvester will start work on the initial mine shaft by activating its powerful Heavy, Quad Mining Laser and firing a massive, continuous beam into the ground that blasts apart sand, rock, and anything else that exists between the Harvester and the intended vein of ore. The Mining Lasers are fired in bursts that last several minutes each. Between bursts, the numerous tractor beams extract chunks of rock, ore, and other materials and place the extracted materials on massive conveyor belts that extend from just aft of the 'mouth' section and pull the raw material into the Harvester where numerous droids and thousands of massive machines identify, sort, and process the materials gathered this way. Valuable ores are sorted and smelted into bricks, plates, wires, and numerous other shapes. Valuable rocks, gems, and certain dirts are treated and processed appropriately.

Once the Harvester's mining laser has exceeded the range of its tractor beams, droids and walking mining platforms are sent into the hole to pursue desired veins of ore. These droids and walkers drill massive tunnels that branch out from the hole dug by the Harvester and continually dump ore into the primary shaft to be extracted by the tractor beams of the Harvester and processed. As the cargo hanger of the Harvester fills with valuable ores and other materials, a port and starboard hangers are used to load cargo onto two shuttles at a time for transfer other storage sites or factories. At the rear of the Harvester is a retractable external landing pad that can handle a single Light Freighter at a time.

Once a Harvester-class Mobile Mining Facility has exhausted all available resources, the factory will retract all droids and vehicles, close its armored blast doors, deactivate its shielding system, and begin moving towards the next mining site.
