Strengths:
  • Tool Projector: The main function of this device is to act as a solid state hologram projector that can create and 'craft' almost any physical tool imaginable. The device works much like any other solid state projector, creating a holographic image that can interact and 'touch' the real world. The Tool Projector keeps a small database of what it is capable of projecting and the user simply needs to select the device they want. Any physical non-powered tool is technically able to be projected, from a screw driver to a Hydrospanner. The size of the tool is also electable, though of course the upper limit is that the tool is handheld.
Weaknesses:
  • Breakable: The device is incredibly sensetive. Mostly cobbled together out of parts that were laying around the science building, the Tool band Kurt designed isn't really created with fighting or rough treatment in mind. Though it can withstand a blow or two in its natural environment, the band really wasn't created with any sort of fighting in mind and thus one could easily break it if intent on doing so.
  • Not a Weapon: Though it was suggested by some other students, the Tool Projector cannot project weapons or cutting implements. The emitter of the Band simply isn't designed for this sort of thing, and cannot even project a pair of scissors.
DESCRIPTION
Though Kurt Meyer has never really been thought of as either intelligent or genius, he has always been a tinkerer.

The young man has a knack for the creation in situations of pure accident, finding something that works simply by pressing one wire against the other and flipping a switch. Whether this is just a genuine sequence of luck or an innate understanding of mechanics and electronics is unknown to both him and the rest of the universe, it has allowed him to create things both big and small.

The Holo-Tool Band is no exception to this rule.

Due to his difficult at understanding the 'book learning' of school, Kurt often found himself incredibly frustrated and angry throughout his current tenure at Kalinda. It was at the suggestion of his girlfriend Jamie that Kurt began to pick up small gadgets to tinker with. Though at first he began with music and video players, he eventually graduated to a small Solid State Hologram Projector one of his teachers left laying around.

This device had originally been meant to create physically interactive holograms that could aid in teaching, though the project eventually failed due to a number of reasons. Kurt took the projector and began an almost daily habit of tinkering with it. He took it apart, put it back together, threw in some new wires, and even messed with the programming. Eventually this all came to an accumulative product that would become Kurt's Tool Band.

Though he is not entirely sure how he did it, Kurt managed to get the device into a functioning state, at first projecting only simple lines, boxes, and other shapes.

From here Kurt was able to go to one of his teacher, showing him the device and delving a bit deeper into the programming that would allow the Projector to craft and hold different shapes. With quite a bit of help from his teacher Kurt eventually managed to set the device to it's desired function as a tool projector, allowing it to be used as anything from a Screwdriver to a Hydrospanner.

The effort in the creation of this tool was a turning point for Kurt, and it's functionality gives him a small bit of hope in regards to his future at Kalinda.
