War Marshal Helix
Technological Terror
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
The Cornerstone is, to all outward appearances, an enormous, featureless black metal cube some 10 meters in width, height, and length. A curious onlooker would have to take a look inside the device to appreciate its true sophistication, for the Cornerstone's unassuming outward face hides a terrible and useful war machine.
Combining the relative merits of a molecular furnace, a duplicator, and a self-constructing armament facility, the inside of the cube is a nightmare of cutting lasers, plasma torches, matter assemblers, and other unpleasant-looking implements.
These machines are among the first things to be brought planetside when a world receives a visit (or more likely, an incursion) from Helix personnel. They serve as factories, able to be fed endless shovelfulls of any matter available, and reassemble it into almost anything the user desires. Provided, of course, that the machine possesses any schematics of the desired item. This includes all Helix-designed weapons, tools, droids, vehicles, and starfighters, and users wishing to create anything else must first give the machine time to analyze a copy of the desired object. To prevent costly (and highly explosive) malfunctions, attempting to use the machine to copy another item must be approved by the operation's highest-ranking officer.
Like most self-constructing facilities, the Cornerstone gradually self-upgrades, expanding its dimensions over time until the initial metal box has become block after block of smoke-belching factories. This has the natural consequence of making the machine harder and harder to destroy the longer it is left undisturbed, and gradually increasing its initially sluggish production capabilities. If desired, the machine's self-replicating properties can be disabled, keeping it as a much slower but more portable miniature factory.
The machines are most often stationary emplacements once transported, but are occasionally fitted to repulsorlifts to more easily move them from place to place. All are invariably heavily guarded, as they are the lifeblood of a Helix staging area.
While it is technically against company policy, it is not unknown for droids to throw captured prisoners of war into the machines' ever-hungry maw, turning them into more of the weapons and ammunition being used to wage war against them. This cruel twist of irony is amusing to droid troops, but frowned upon by command, who favor far denser materials to more efficiently keep the supplies coming.
The time it takes to create an object can vary. Smaller items, such as weapons or bipedal droids, can be churned out at fairly rapid pace, spitting out numerous cheap blasters or infantry per minute. Larger objects, such as vehicles or weapon emplacements, are a different matter, requiring more time and raw materials to build. While the Cornerstone is undoubtedly useful, losing the machine before it can expand and entrench itself spells the death knell of a military operation.

- Market Status: Closed-Market
- Model: KRW Cornerstone
- Modularity: Yes
- Production: Limited
- Material: Helsteel, Durasteel, Assembler components
- Capable of assembling nearly any droid, weapon, or object in Helix's arsenal.
- Factory: The Cornerstone is capable of transforming almost any raw material into fully-functional droids, weapons, and tools, and is excellent for supplying and reinforcing troops in the field or aboard a starship.
- Scalable Efficiency: The Cornerstone's construction time shortens as the machine grows, gradually becoming more and more efficient over time.
- Construction Queue: The Cornerstone is very slow to produce at first, requiring ample time to expand itself and speed up its production capabilities.
