GENERAL INFORMATION
Planet Name: KRK-14H “Kuroke”
Demonym: Kurokian
Region: Outer Rim
System Name: Kuroke
System Features: An interstellar curiosity, the Kuroke system only features a single planet with no moon orbiting a small star.
Coordinates: J-59, between Crystalsong and Binaros
Major Imports: N/A
Major Exports: N/A
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
Gravity: 5x Standard. Protective equipment required for most species.
Climate: Temperature on Kuroke varies from region to region. Much of the world is temperate, though tectonically unstable regions have been noted to have exceptionally high temperatures. Likewise, polar or high altitude areas have been found to possess extremely low temperatures. In both extremes, protective equipment is required for most species.
Primary Terrain: Most of the planet is comprised of rugged hills and narrow valleys, though both poles and most of the higher mountain peaks are frozen over. In addition, areas of tectonically active and unstable landscape feature lava flows, active volcanos, and extreme temperatures. Lastly, Kuroke features a number of mountain ranges with deep valleys obscured by perpetual cloud cover.
Major Locations:
Kynn Peak - One of the tallest peaks on the planet, the mountain is the largest within the small range it resides in. The lower slopes of the mountain lead into rugged and stoney hills while snow coats the upper half and peak. Temperatures towards the top of the mountain reach extremely frigid temperatures requiring dedicated protective equipment to survive for most species.
Rhayl Highland - A series of mountains forming a U shape with a deep valley between the two legs. Only the peaks feature seasonal snow with typical cold temperatures noted. The ridge is treacherous and rock slides are a common occurrence in the area. The valley sports constant cloud cover below the peaks and initial scans show high levels of toxic fumes among the persistent fog. Powerful storms frequent the region, making flight exceptionally hazardous.
Kkyehtt Crater - The crater is actually a massive, active volcano surrounded by fractured landscape. Lava constantly flows through natural ducts and channels formed in the rock surrounding the mountain. Periodic eruptions threaten the nearby region with falling, molten rock and the air is constantly filled with ash and smoke. Temperatures in this region, and other tectonically active areas, are high enough to require dedicated protective equipment for most species.
The Trench - A great gash in the landscape, it is the largest crag on the planet and theorized to also be the deepest. Fog obscures the true nature of the cut in the landscape, but initial scans show high levels of airborne toxins and corrosive gases.
POPULATION
Native Species: Unknown (to be subbed later)
Immigrated Species: None (currently no one lives on the planet at this time)
Population: Uninhabited

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
KRK-14H was discovered entirely by accident. A mistake in hyperdrive coordinates dropped a small freighter off course and into the system. The pilot marked the location and alerted the nearby explorer’s guild who sent a small vessel to investigate the planet and system.
The system was initially unremarkable featuring a single, moonless planet and a small star. The only notable features of the planet were its high gravity and extreme temperature variations in certain areas. After a few days of orbital scanning, the vessel opted for atmospheric entry for a more detailed assessment. Entry into KRK-14H’s atmosphere was uneventful save for the need for protective equipment to survive the planet’s gravity. Unfortunately, when the vessel attempted to enter a nearby storm to collect weather data, disaster struck.
The vessel suddenly lost all power and, moments later, impacted into the planet itself. After the guild noted contact had been lost with the ship and crew, a rescue mission was mounted. Automatic distress beacons guided the rescue to the wreck where it was discovered the three-man crew had perished on impact. The wreckage itself offered no real clues to why the ship had crashed, though the vessel’s intra-ship comm record showed commentary on a “creature” of some kind just prior cutting off. With no evidence to the contrary, the unfortunate event was designated as a power plant malfunction with legal prosecution drawn against the ship’s manufacturer immediately after the investigation was closed. As an afterthought, the surnames of the lost crew were used to name notable regions on KRK-14H while their initials were used to give the planet its letter designation, KRK.
Years later, another miscalculation brought a smuggler into the system by accident. Spotting the planet’s designation beacon with its letter and number configuration, he deemed the sequence too annoying to remember and instead dubbed the planet, and system, “Kuroke”, a name that managed to stick to a system found mainly by mistake.
