Balmorra

Location: Capital City General Hospital
Objective: Research & Discovery

The ride to Balmorra wasn’t as he expected. Hyonu closed his book and shoved it into his pack. Unlike other trips that he had made for the Silver Jedi, he was wearing actual civilian clothes this time. Rachel could see her Master in what he looked like outside of his typical scrubs or his cream-colored Jedi Robes. Putting his sunglasses on, they would leave the transport that was sent by the Silver Jedi. He carried his brief case and they headed straight to the hospital.

Upon arrival, the pair would be ushered to a conference room, they would be alone for a few moments and Hyonu removed his sunglasses and leaned his rear end against the table. Arms folded and he seemed to be in a bit of a trance while thinking. They had been summoned, not so much on official Silver business, but as a favor. Though Hyonu figured it would be a safe way to get some sort of ties with the Balmorrians just in case.

He was the first to break the silence as he asked Rachel a question. “Assistant [member="Rachel Taff"].” He paused and exhaled. “Have you heard of the Krytos Virus?”

Her master [member="Hyonu Ye"] had once again decided to drag himself out of his labs. However this time when she met him, he was in casual clothes while she had been in her kit for labs. That had taken her by surprise but she had a dress sitting in her kit just in case she ever had time off. So she quickly went off and got dressed into it. The trip itself had been quiet enough she was able to get some more of her research done. She put it away as they arrived at a hospital.

Following her master inside they were soon ushered to a conference room. She was still clueless as to why they were here. Her master leaned on the table waiting for someone obviously whoever had summoned them here. She was going to go back to her research again when he spoke up. Had she ever heard of the Krytos Virus. She put away her data and thought for a long time. Before coming to a conclusion. "Very little master. It was a virus that only targeted aliens from my limited knowledge. But I have no idea who made it nor how it was cured. Is that why we are here?"

Hyonu nodded listening to the limited knowledge that Rachel had on the Virus. She knew enough for him to be able to continue with explaining. A hand rubbed the side of his face as he thought quietly. Pushing himself off the table, Hyonu stretched and sighed. He hated this virus, it reminded of the one that wiped out his home.

The surly doctor’s face softened for a moment as he remembered a painful past. The moment was brief, and his face returned to the look Rachel was used to seeing on him. “Good start. The virus was what ignited the Bacta War conflict – it was created by an Imperial. The virus was pretty short lived as the creation of Rylca which is bacta and ryll kor combined.”

Reaching under the table, he patted his hand along the underside. There was a hidden compartment and he reached in. “Got it, we aren’t here because we’re wanted Rachel – we’re here because its our job as healers to protect.” Tucking away the file he looked around and put his sunglasses back on. Nodding towards the girl, he made a shhhing motion and they dipped out of the conference room.

Leaving the hospital, they headed into town wandering the streets for a bit. “How have you been? It seems like we mostly work, but I’d like to know more about you Rachel.” The Doctor walked quickly with his hands in his pockets as he asked the apprentice the questions.

Rachel listened to the history of the bacta war. She had heard it before but she hadn't realised the two were connected in anyway. This surprised her. "So this disease and the bacta war were intertwined and an imperial made it. I am not surprised by that due to the fact of the stories of the imperials was they were always human concentric but to go that far." She shook her head. "I hope no one else tried something like it."

Rachel would nod. "Where ever we go we are not wanted however we are needed. Nor shall we ever receive thanks. I know master, I knew when I chose to be your apprentice that I would help people without thanks. But that is something I am okay with as long as I can help people." She would follow her master out. He then asked how she was. "I am okay. The loss of my brother was not something I was expecting. However that got offset with the marriage of my nephew. However it also lead me to learn my eldest brother a very evil man survived from the last time my brother stopped him."

She would continue on. "Now with my brother gone, I hope my elder brother went as well but I didn't feel him leave into the force. If he comes back, well I don't know what to do. Last time I fought him myself I got the scarring on my back and lost my mother and father. I just hope I am strong enough if he ever does return. Sorry I have said a bit much what about you master? You usually keep to yourself a lot." She would say curious.

As Rachel spoke, Hyonu nodded and made small noises to let her know that he was still listening. His eyes were focused as he led her through the downtown area to a hotel that was located on the outskirts. The girl seemed to be involved in her story telling, which was good – it meant it kept both of their heads off the current terrible subject. She finished and Hyonu held out a key for the girl. “We’re sharing a room, only because I don’t trust those around us right now.” He gave her the other copy and headed towards the elevator.

While inside he finally spoke, “Rachel. You’re going to be strong enough to face anything and everything that comes at you. I’ll make sure of that. Family is something important. It reminds us that there are other people who support us even if they don’t act like it.” A small break in the usually socially awkward doctor, he continued. “Along with your blood family, you have the Silver Jedi, you have me, so don’t feel alone and don’t feel that you have to face the darkness by yourself.”

A small smile and the doors of the elevator opened. Hyonu looked down at the map and moved towards their door. Using his key, the stiff man opened and tossed his stuff on the bed closest to the window. “My bag is on my bed, you can’t move it I claimed it first.” He held up his finger and pointed towards the bed to emphasis that he had claimed his bed and no one else was going to get it. “People get kidnapped when they’re by the door – thank you for your sacrifice padawan.” He moved and inspected the room fully then settled on the corner of his bed.

“As for your comment earlier. Someone has revived the virus – but they’ve made it far worse. Does it not only affect alien species, it affects human and near humans who are force sensitive.” [member="Rachel Taff"]

Rachel was speaking as they headed towards a hotel. Arriving there she took the key as she was told the arrangements. "Very well master. I am more than fine with that." She followed him the elevator as he finally spoke. He spoke about her being strong enough. About family and how the SJO was also family. She hadn't considered that before but she nodded agreeing. "Yes I have made friends with a number of the members of the SJO."

She followed him to the room. As he entered first and threw his bag on the bed near the window, talking about kidnapping. "Yes but if I was going for a kill, I would aim at the one from the window first. Kidnapping they might go for me but an assassin will go for you first." She said simply she wasn't silly she had been trained by her brother who was in chiss special forces how to deal with things like assassins and the best places to stay were generally in the bathroom. No one really ever looked in there for people.

She looked shock on her face as he master stated that someone revived it. Someone aiming to hit force sensitives. "But after the Netherworld opening lots of people became force sensitive that could destroy half the galaxy. New sacrifice, I will stay up all night to make sure neither of us is kidnapped or dies." She said her lighsabre whip on her belt as she pulled out two gauntlets she had hidden in her bag. "Never leave home without these." She said placing them on ready for the night.

Nodding, the man finished examining the room and set up small sentry droids. They would alert the pair if anything decided to enter the room. “As much as I tried to keep us discreet, I’m sure whoever is doing the virus revival already knows we’re here.” The doctor opened his bag and pulled out a small vial and two syringes. “I have been developing a small resistance to the virus. It will help keep us sane and safe through the investigation.” Holding the bottle, he drew the liquid from the vial and walked over towards Rachel.

Setting her’s down he moved fill his. Both remained on the table and he pulled a rubber tubing from his pocket and waited for her arm. “We should be okay with this vaccine, though I’d like to redo it in the next couple of days. Call me paranoid.” As he waited he wondered slightly if he should call other doctors. Though the only one he could think of was Ciana and he highly doubted she had any knowledge of anything they were doing.

It was obvious the man was thinking about the Kiribian woman, his face wrinkled, and he scoffed randomly while remembering comments to him. Remembering what he was doing he motioned for her to give him her arm. Once she did, he would proceed to give her the injection and then administer the vaccine to himself. Giving his arm a shake, he nodded.

“Its fine Rachel, I’ll take first watch – you need your rest, I have been working you a bit too hard.”

Rachel watched as he set up two small drones. "Should have gotten some from my nephew, they wouldn't be shut down by an EMP or Ion pulse if someone tried it. I have no doubts they would be, I am so glad my brother taught me tips and tricks." She would nod as he mentioned a resistance for it. "Smart idea. Is there anyway we can improve it possibly make it a cure?"

She sat waiting as he came towards her with the syringe and she held her arm out knowing it was for the best. "That sounds sensible master, even I would suggest it. I have been working with you long enough now that it makes sense." The he began wrinkling his face and Rachel smiled slightly "Your thinking about ciana again. I can see it on your face even if my spirits didn't tell me."

She moved her arm allowing her blood to move around. "At least calling her to get a second opinion could be useful. I can place the call if it makes you uncomfortable but only if you want her opinion. Otherwise the less people that know the less panic that will cause. Well until we fail." She shook her head. "You don't push me hard master. I push myself in my work. But alright if your sure, I will let you take the first watch."

[member="Hyonu Ye"]

Hyonu scoffed as Rachel mentioned the Kiribian woman. He knew Ciana would be helpful in this situation, but he didn’t want too many people knowing what was going on. On top of that, asking for help wasn’t his strong suit even more so apologizing was the worst thing in the world. Shaking his head, Hyonu answered his padawan. “Ciana has her own work.” It was all he said on the matter, though he would keep the suggestion in the back of his mind.

“I’ll have to check out your nephew’s work then. I think some weirdo tech girl at the rest worked on these for me. They should be good.” He sighed softly and shrugged.

“I don’t have enough samples to see if this could be a true vaccine, a main reason why we’re here. To contain and figure out a vaccine.” Pondering, he looked at the girl as they prepared to rest. “If things get too messy, I’ll be sending you back to the Rest. I’m not leaving till I solve this.” The man nodded with a stern look, then pulled out the chair at the desk and crossed his arms. He would pull out his work after the girl fell asleep, for now he didn’t want to distract her, so she could sleep.

Rachel heard her master [member="Hyonu Ye"] scoff. Rachel frowned slightly as he did. "Sorry I mentioned it master. She was just the most dominate doctor other than yourself in the order. I am sure she does, it was only a suggestion master. As I said I don't know enough other doctors within the order." Rachel really didn't doctors beyond the two of them. She needed to get to know more of them if they even had more of them.

Rachel nodded "Fair enough. I believe someone recently approached him about joining the SJO as a full time member and supporting company. It will certainly be interesting when it does occur." She said with a smile. She knew her nephew, he might be out of galactic politics and other things at the moment. But he would most likely jump back in without a second thought given the right kind of deal.

Rachel frowned again. "Your not sending me anywhere if containment is needed my nephew has soldiers that can deal with it. They were made by his father, my brother as security and containment purposes, if need be we can call them in and they can help hold the area in lock down." She was trying to help the best she could. She just hoped he would listen to something she said. "I should head to sleep I guess though. Wake me when it's my turn."

A hand waved, “No need to apologize. I know you’re fond of Dr. Teigra.” The Doctor mused and nodded. He knew Rachel was right, he should have called Ciana, but the woman was probably busy doing her stuff or something. Trying to get the Kiribian doctor out of his mind, Hyonu did his best to focus on something else. “Your nephew and I will meet eventually then, that’s good.” The girl retired like he had asked, but she did fight him on his care for her.

Hyonu ran his hand through the length of his dark hair, having a padawan was more than he had bargained for, but it was nice to have someone to talk to that didn’t have a programed response. Sitting at the desk, he watched the doorway and for once used the Force. The man relied heavily on science, but sometimes the Force outweighed science. He felt the city around him, bustling – if something was going to happen to them it would happen from the outside.

Hours crept along, and nothing occurred. Danger didn’t alert the doctor and he shuffled his notes around. A heavy yawn and he looked at the time, it had been four hours since he had put the girl to bed. Sleep hung on his eyes as he looked over and pondered waking her up, she was young and needed sleep, so he ignored it. One more time, he sensed the area around the room and nothing came back. The man folded his arms in front of his chest and a heavy sign escaped his lips, eyes closed, and he let himself rest for the moment.

-----------------------------------------

Few blocks away, a group of men met. Pictures of Rachel and Hyonu were thrown onto a table in front of a masked individual. “Ey, the Jedi are on planet side. You know what or who called them?” A thuggish brute rolled his shoulders as a thick finger pressed on the faces of the two Jedi. “What are they doing here!?” The masked individual shrugged slightly while a smile crept along their face.

“Are you scared of a girl and her Master?” The thug shook his head and looked at his group with another shake of his head. “Boss, what about the virus?” The masked individual waved their hand and the thugs suddenly seemed calm and had a drop in their eyes. “All will be fine boys, don’t fret – we’ll take care of the little girl and her nosey master soon enough, remember patience.”

Rachel scoffed at her master suggesting she liked the female doctor. It was more she knew someone useful when she saw them. She nodded at the comment on her nephew as she felt to sleep. After a while she awoke, from some dream of people talking. More than likely the spirits trying to tell her something was about to happen. She shook herself away as she looked to see her master had failed to wake her.

There was two reasons someone didn't wake you in the night. They feel asleep at their post or they decided you needed more sleep than you thought you did. She sighed as she grabbed her data pad and began running some numbers on her upcoming project. She did this for the next hour or so before finally giving up and reading some old letters of her families. Strange to be reading them again after all this time.

It wasn't long before the sun came up and Rachel decided to make herself a caf from the things available in the room and then made a tea sitting it on the stand next to her master's bed. She knew he would enjoy having a tea early in the morning. She sat on her bed double checking the drones were still in place and making sure her weapons were concealed once again. She sighed taking a long drink from her caf. Another day running from whoever was making this virus.

Hyonu had made his way into his bed despite the fact he needed to be looking out. The droids were enough, and they would eventually need to purchase the ones that the girl’s nephew made. The smell of tea filled the room and the Seoulian man stretched and groaned. Dreams began to fill with the perfect cup of milk tea and he smiled happily. He remained asleep for a few minutes longer and then sat up and stretched.

“Mmm tea!” He remembered that he wasn’t home and that he was on mission with his assistant. The happy little grin he had on his face disappeared as he fixed his hair quickly and looked towards the girl. Deciding to play off the fact that he ignored waking her up, he climbed out of bed and cleared his throat.

“Good morning Rachel, How was your watch? If you’re tired you can go back to sleep.” He moved to his datapad and looked to see if anything had changed. Nothing had changed which was good and bad. Something in the air was bad and remembering Rachel’s comments here and there about these spirits that spoke to her, Hyonu decided to question.

“It seems we’re still unknown to the area, which is a good thing. Do—” Turning he smiled, “Do your spirits feel anything amiss?”

While the pair talked in their room, a large shuttle speeder entered the town. It was obvious they were delivering supplies the town that had fallen to a strange illness. [member="Rachel Taff"]
