Korinna is the daughter of Demetrius Zambrano, a scholar and chronicler of Panathan history and the Zambrano family. He is also Kaine Zambrano's cousin on his father side, which makes the infamous Sith Lord Korinna's uncle. Demetrius, who was mostly an asexual recluse buried in books, scripts and scrolls, fathered a child with an unnamed Panathan noblewoman who was left widowed and childless. To have a Zambrano sire her child was a matter of both prestige and political influence. Demetrius agreed under one condition; she could keep the child until she was seven, when he would come and take her to become a scholar like him. Korinna's mother agreed, thinking Demetrius would not come and claim the child as agreed.
The girl had thus spent her earliest formative years in the Panathan court, raised to be a lady worthy of her surname. On the eve of her seventh birthday, Demetrius appeared on her doorstep, ready to take his daughter away. The noblewoman was unwilling to give up the child and threatened the Zambrano with a blaster, mortally wounding him. Demetrius had anticipated she would not willingly let go of their daughter and summoned his cousin, albeit moments too late. Seeing his cousin dead by the hand of this treacherous woman, Kaine murdered Korinna's mother in cold blood.
The Sith Lord then took the child away to the palace and administered a number of tests, to find out his niece was both Force-sensitive and of extraordinary intellect for her age. To respect the last wishes of his late relative, Kaine commanded that Korinna was to be taken to a boarding school on Coruscant. Kaine Zambrano spared no expense on Korinna's education; upon finishing high school, she enrolled to University of Coruscant to study history and xenoarcheology. During her studies, she spent time in Obroan Institute of Archeology , University of Agamar and travelled most of the galaxy for excavations. Upon attaining her doctorate, her uncle commanded her return to their home planet,after 20 years of exile. It was about time his investment paid out.
