SPECIAL FEATURES

The Kleve-class space station serves two functions, one as starfighter support and the second as a research station the latter having priority over the former. An increase in fighter squadrons from the normal also required scrapping much of the starship support amenities in favor of starfighter support. While the Kleve has several docking pylons to enable larger starships to visit, and resupply if it is applicable. (Meaning a scheduled visit, or in the case of an emergency, a quick service - before the ship is sent to a nearby repair station).

The following listed features are available aboard the Kleve-class:

  • Docking/Landing:

Located throughout the station are various landing pads and docking pylons allowing vessels to come in and out of the station. Delivering various goods, personnel and even data. All of it is overseen by the dockmaster of course who manages all the docks, and the traffic going to and from the station.

[*]
Main Operations:

  • The Kleve-class of stations don’t necessarily have a combat operations center or a command center. Rather they have what is called main ops, or main operations. Located in the center most portion of the station and perhaps the most notable feature. Command teams, security, tactical, and operations all come together to keep the station going. Main Operations also serves as the main tactical and command offices (of course), working to monitor all weapons and defensive systems that the Kleve might have.

[*]
Diplomacy/Law:

  • Relatively small offices here, but they are here nonetheless, JAGs, Magistrates, diplomats and even an Ambassador (passing through or not) could be found here. First Order’s Diplomacy Corps operate from these stations working with local planets and governments to ensure they have all that they need from the First Order. Lawyers and judges work and serve both members of the military and civilian realms.

[*]
Engineering:

  • A station isn’t a station without her core, and the core of the station is actually the station herself. Particle accelerators, modified to relieve pressure from the hypermatter reactor run around the station in a circular motion. Meaning she has engineering stations throughout her 260 decks. So, you’ll fine engineering officers and crew just about everywhere onboard the Kleve.

[*]
Medical:

  • Perhaps one of the bigger attractions here, the silent tertiary purpose of the station is to provide more medical resources. Main sickbay fits approximately thirty-two beds not including her surgical wards or pediatric care center. FIMS and First Order Medical work closely together to monitor and run the clinics to service any and all First Order citizens. Counseling, Dental and other medical services can also be found here aboard the Kleve.

[*]
Logistics:

  • Cargo bays, personnel management, housing, billets and supplies only begin to explain the duties of logistics aboard one of these stations. Or aboard any vessel or station that the First Order may have to offer. Their offices are ever roaming, main logistics having its own within main operations. They are otherwise always on the go and can often be seen working with both civilians and military.

[*]
Science:

  • And the biggest draw and reason for why this is even here. The Kleve-class’s mission to analyze all raw data, explore strange new minerals, to seek out new life and new theories. Conducting science in a vast array of laboratories, tables, and keeping in contact through hyperwave radio with scientific vessels within the region and First Order territory. State of the art equipment and some of the best and brightest are employed at these stations.

[*]
Flight Operations:

  • Flight decks, hangars, barracks, holo simulations for training. It’s all here aboard these stations, a nod to the original FIS Kleve that housed starfighters. These stations would keep with them two training squadrons at all time in order integrate new pilots into the ever growing Starfighter Corps program. It is also partly why the Kleve has so many landing pads, and docks so that these pilots can truly learn their craft and hone in on their skills here at home.

[*]
Security:

  • Brig, holding cells, and the bullpen are just some of the things that make up the security facilities within the Kleve. Security works to enforce First Order and First Order Military laws, and regulations. They also double as customs officers here aboard the Kleve-stations. Their main office is located just below the promenade enabling them a fast response time to any would-be shenanigans that would go on there. Armouries are located throughout the station in secure areas allowing the men and women aboard to arm themselves should the station be boarded.

[*]
Promenade:

  • Various vendors, grocers, bazaars, clubs, financial exchanges and auxiliary offices are held here. The Promenade also leads the way to the Commissary which is reserved strictly for members of the First Order military. However barber shops, beauty salons, dry cleaning, nail salons and other shops or services that are located here. Must adhere to First Order military standards. Financial exchanges work to exchange local currency to credits, or are well known financial institutions such as the First Order Naval Credit Union or the First Imperial Bank.

[*]
Residences/Habitats:

  • The concern of any member of the First Order, whether civilian or military. Where am I going to live? The Kleve’s various rings serve as residential or habitat areas/zones depending on species/need. Most members of the military who are stationed here, live rather comfortably with almost no regard for their rank. Located in any of the halls are meditation rooms, or quiet chambers to allow for reflection or religious gatherings (so long as said gatherings have been registered with station officials beforehand).

Strengths:

  • [+] Extra Squadrons: Most stations and even carriers only have room for six squadrons, given the nature of her research and her limited number. First Order naval engineers reserved an even larger than normal portion of her operations for starfighters. Allowing the station a little more room in self defense.

  • [+] One Trick: She’s got one really good trick and that is deploying her deep space target practice unit. Traditionally she uses this to assist her squadrons in war games but when she has to. The Kleve can use it to lure would-be attackers away from the station.
Weaknesses:

  • [-] No Warheads: The Kleve-class station has no warheads, not a single missile launcher to her name. While she has the means to deactivate enemy missiles and her own Anti-Missile Octets. She was not built with military defense in mind and is left without warheads. Instead she received an increase in her squadrons.

  • [-] Particle Accelerator: Initially part of the original FIS Kleve as a way to further First Order understanding of theoretical, and quantum physics. The Particle Accelerator is also being studied as a way to generate energy. Science behind the accelerator in combination with the stations own hypermatter reactor core, can be a little unsettling. Should a saboteur somehow get aboard, and manages to initiate a supernova-like destruction.

  • [-] Intrusion: Perhaps it’s the First Order’s arrogance or naivete or maybe both, but the Kleve in spite of its importance. Or the importance of the work here, provides little countermeasures against intrusions. Reliant on the ever vigilant eyes of their security forces, Stormtroopers and other personnel.

Description:

Months after the incident at FIS Kleve, Commander Cyone returned to the station and watched as it was torn apart. A new station would be put in her place, a new class of station even. The Kleve-class, named for the original FIS Kleve that was situated by the singularity known as Quintas. The new Kleve-class stations were to be the top of the line scientific research stations. A place where data would be exchanged to and from, a place where scholars, scientists and researchers of all types could go and conduct their state authorized work. Kleve would be what Aermoira had always wanted - a proper place for not just study but the unity of military, diplomacy and science. The Commander worked with fellow naval officer Raleigh Montague on developing the initial blueprint and design for the station.

The two often worked during their off hours, and they had done this for several months. And then, Montague was scooped up by Fleet Admiral Fiolette Yvarro. It would be weeks and months before Aermoira would be able to see Raleigh again. And during this meeting they decided to propose the project to the Fleet Admiral. Fiolette initially denied the request stating that First Order naval assets would be better put to use elsewhere. The two officers resubmitted their request this time referencing the Kleve at Kleve incident.

After some deliberation, Fiolette gave her approval for the project but at a limited production value. The project was then given to Commandant Fordham to oversee. Commander Cyone remained on the project to give input and testimony from the original Kleve station. Piece by piece the station’s design came together, the final render was presented to naval engineers and approved to be produced in part by Primo Victorian and FOCIE.
