The NAKAIOMA Corporation's chain of luxury hotels; Kitakami is a brand that caters to the wealthy and influential of the galaxy. Founded by Kuzano Nakaioma with the establishment of the company's first hotel on Coruscant in 87ABY, the chain was largely the result of the young Nakaioma's architectural hobby and frequent travelling, but it has since grown to encompass much more than that. Initially a bog-standard brand, Kitakami's new direction towards luxury begun with its expansion into Naboo, where its second, and one of its most popular hotels, the Kitakami Naboo was built in the capital city of Theed, eventually another hotel would be built on Naboo, though this time far from the city, and well away into the planet's beautiful countryside, this would not happen until decades later, however. It would turn out later on, as the galaxy was wracked by the Yuuzhan Vong War, that the company's turn towards more elite clientele had unintentionally saved it from collapse, as while the masses could no longer afford to go on such decadent trips, the wealthy were always doing it, whatever the crisis.

However, the outbreak of the Gulag Virus would devastate the company-- almost to the point of complete disrepair-- with it only surviving on the brute force of Nakaioma's recently founded security services, whom were dispatched to secure all Kitakami properties and defend them with lethal force, and the financial backing of the parent corporation itself. This state of affairs would continue for a number of decades, until the galaxy had recovered enough to begin the reopening of regular inter-planetary commerce and travel. Today, Kitakami has a number of hotels across the galaxy, largely focusing on important, beautiful, or otherwise desirable worlds for its target demographic. Unique among Nakaioma's family of subsidiaries, the Kitakami Hotel Corporation does not engage in rapid, or aggressive expansion. Instead pursuing a policy of maintaining its elite reputation, and as such it is relatively rare for them to open new locations, when they do, it quickly becomes a big deal for the bourgeoise of the galaxy.

Advertising an aura of traditional Onami-chi culture, mixed with Coruscanti perfectionism and Core World modernism, each hotel stylizes itself differently based on the world it is located on. Katakomi Commenor for example is decorated with beautiful art pieces of ancient Jedi warriors, and neat informational texts on the history of the Silver Jedi Order can be found throughout the building. The overall design, and architecture of each hotel remains to a large degree the same, as to keep the integrity of the brand consistent and precise. The hotels themselves are often very large in scale, both vertically and horizontally, they boast state of the art technology, luxury and food, with some of the galaxy's most talented, and known chefs maintaining some of their restaurants within Katakomi hotels. Cooperating closely with Nakaioma Capital, each Katakomi Hotel owns all of the real estate that it is built on, while Nakaioma Security Services are responsible for the protection of each hotel.

Inherited from his father, Szuko Nakaioma, when he unexpectedly passed away. Saro Nakaioma took the reigns of the massive conglomerate as CEO at the age of 38. Where his father was a steady hand, never wanting to unnecessarily rock the boat, in-order to ensure the conglomerate's continued longevity, in the face of an unstable galaxy. Saro had an opposite view of the situation, seeing the chaos that was enveloping everyone and everything as a means to the Nakaioma Corporation's growth. Investing heavily in new projects, and innovations in all sectors of their business, and even expanding into new ones. He has become a popular figurehead for the brand name, and is well liked, and feared-when required, among the core elite.
