• Distinctions: The Kinthir is rather distinctive for its massive shell and dopey attitude. Males are somewhat bigger than females and are distinctive due to the horns which grow all over the front of their shells.

Strengths:

• LARDer: Kinthir are known to form massive fat deposits to store energy and water for bad times. A previously well fed Kinthir can last several months without food or water before its health begins to decline.
• Social: Kinthir are one of the few social animals on Ahk-Ourobha, they actively look out for members of their herd and have been known to put themselves in danger to save fellow herd members. Should a Kinthir be attacked it is not uncommon for other nearby members of their herd to roam over and begin biting and stomping on what ever is attacking their herdmate in an attempt to save them.

Weaknesses:

• Slow: Kinthir are not at all built for mobility. They survive through helping one another and do not require speed for their never ending grazing. They meander through life munching on nearby plantlife and fighting what threatens them. A lone Kinthir is easily out maneuvered and outrun.
• Prime Target: Kinthir are clearly good eating and any carnivorous creature large enough preys on them.

• General behavior: Kinthir are migratory grazing creatures who move around the northern continent in a constant search for food. They mow matts of vegetation down to the roots before moving on to new opportunities. They are fiercely territorial with different herds of Kinthir attacking one another to chase them off from prime eating areas or watering holes. These herds are made up of smaller female Kinthir while male Kinthir, denoted by their horns that cover their shells, wander in much smaller bands seeking mates and temporary acceptance in the female herds.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Kinthir are really the only domesticated animal on Ahk-Ourobha and can be found in ranches across the planet. For much of Bedlariim history Kinthir have acted as a prime source of food and a designation of wealth. Those who can afford to sate a Kinthir herd's near bottomless stomachs are wealthy indeed and are revered as wise leaders. Wars have been fought over Kinthir herds with less fortunate groups seeking to secure the herds of others. In recent years this no longer happens due to technological innovations providing a more ready abundance of feed for the Kinthir and their domesticated population has exploded across the planet, especially in the southern continent where ranches are the most common in the rocky plains.
